Need Help With Crash in Sewers

Post » Wed Dec 14, 2011 8:44 am

The problem occurs during the tutorial, when Captain Renault is killed by the assassins. Oblivion simply crashes, triggering the always fun "checking for solutions" window.

I have had this problem before, but it was when I was using many, many mods that I assumed caused the problem. However, I just did a fresh install of Oblivion, using only the Unofficial Oblivion Patch and obse, and the problem still persists. The problem does not occur when I run vanilla Oblivion. If anyone has any solutions, I would very much appreciate them. Thanks!

Would better fit, in that case, in the mods forum.

I'd look with TES4Edit, for conflicts or anything that alters CG00 or CG Akiviri equipment worn by Renault. Her gear isn't usually playable and there are some scripts associated, IIRC, when she dies. Perhaps there's a conflict somewhere pertaining to making said gear playable/lootable?

Ah yes, Originally I thought it was a vanilla problem, but it only occurs when I'm running obse (which I had forgotten about). Is there a way to request a topic move?

You might have leftover mods inside your Data folder from your previous install of Oblivion, the uninstaller does not remove user added content from the Oblivion and Oblivion\Data folders. The uninstaller also leaves the old configuration settings in the Oblivion folder that contains your old saved games.
If you just have Oblivion and the Unofficial Patches, you can uninstall the game again using the disc, then manually clean everything out of your Oblivion and Oblivion Data folder and reinstall the game.

Thanks! I have just uninstalled and deleted everything on my computer with the name Oblivion (including several apps like Python/Wyre/Ect) and am reinstalling Oblivion. Wish me luck

After the fresh install and removal of all things Oblivion from my computer, the game still crashes at the same point...still only using the Unofficial Patch and OBSE
