Need help with an edited weapon mesh.

Hey guys, I've been trying to get a modded Service Rifle that has a silencer I modeled as a test into the game, it works, however, I don't see the silencer or anything I've changed about the weapon mesh itself unless I drop the gun or give it to a follower. To clarify, I can see the silencer (or anything else I changed for that matter) on the gun in the GECK and when I drop it or give it to an NPC, But not when my character holds it. It seems to default to the original model.

Am I somehow editing a world model or something that's not used by the PC? I'm also thinking it might be the way I'm doing it in blender/nifskope, which is just join the silencer/the gun itself together, export and copy/paste the new NiTriStripData over the "BattleRifle:0" NiTriStripsData from the original mesh. I even tried making it it's own object but that doesn't work at all. Sorry if this seems confusing :(

Any ideas on how to fix this? By the way, I did try the search bar. (And Google :D) But neither gave me an answer.

Just delete the 1stperson model from the weapons tab. As long as you still have the default 1st person model in there you will still see the default weapon.

I tried that and that doesn't fix it :(. and maybe I should have clarified a little more that even when I'm in 3rd person it doesn't show up on the gun.

EDIT: Nevermind that seemed to fix it. I only tried that when I was doing that for the original ID in the GECK and it didn't work. And not when I gave it a new form ID last night. Don't know why that doesn't work for the original ID though. Thanks for the help man. :)
