Need help with FO settings....

Post » Thu May 03, 2012 8:04 am

Just downloaded the game pack from Steam. It set up automatically, but when it starts, the screen is all blotchy with blue, red, and yellow squares all over the place. The initial load screen is all but unreadable.

What do I need to set to what?

AND where do I go to set it?

Thanks, in advance guys. I am looking forward to a long haul through the series, from start to....The Lonesome Road.

The older games right?
Hmm, I think you need the unofficial patch and a resolution patch.
After that if I still have the problem then I go to the source of the game (C:Pogram/BlackIsle...) and just launch it from it's original launcher instead of a shortcut.
Though I dunno if that works with the steam version, I have a cdversion from Virgin I think.

Yes. The first one. I have no idea what to do. There are no instructions with this thing. I Can't even use a gun, for crying out loud. Doesn't matter. I tell what I'm shooting at anyway.

I assumed that it came with all the patches. You would think that they would anticipate someone with a system that exceeds the 1995 requirements, to be downloading the game. Why even sell a product that can't be used?

EDIT: Ah! You said "Unofficial" patches...Where do I get those?

No Mutants Allowed has some mods, and I remember having the same problem. If you google something like 'Fallout colour problem' you should find step-by-step instructions to remove the problem.

OK...3 years, 2 wives and 5 kids later. Still no luck. I was eventually directed to http://www.nma-fallout.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=57362&start=0&postdays=0&postorder=asc&highlight=.

I just don't know what I'm doing. I downloaded the ALPHA4. It seemed pretty much automatic. I then downloaded 4.1 and although it was a ZIP, I was able to just click on it from my "DOWNLOAD" folder and it went into setup. Several screens later and several spammed yes buttons, it was done.

It created a shortcut on my Desktop. A new shorty for launching FO, called Fallout FIXT. It would not run. It says it needs some Master file. Hell I don't know.

What I do know is that I am growing frustrated :wallbash:

Perhaps you pointed the installation of those patches to the wrong folder. Sometimes they just automatically assume your updating the non steam version and installing to the normal versions install location.
Also be sure your launching the falloutw.exe

Thank you for the response. I understand that it should be "pointed" , as you say, somewhere else...I get that part. I just don't understand what that exactly entails in the process.

Pointed? Ok, how exactly and where exactly does one do that? Even now that it is already installed?

EDIT : HOLLY SMOKIN' CAT____, BATMAN! I done it! (derp)

That mod/patch and patch combo is the bomb! It's on now!

Sorry, when I said pointed, I meant what folder the "install to folder:_____" in the installer says.
