I am on PC. I have the unofficial patch so mentioning the diary first should be a non-issue You should also know that I have no saves I can load to from before I went down in the caves to retrieve both the boots and the diary. Additionally, I never got kicked out of the Thieves' guild for killing the invisible guy with the boots.

So here's my problem. No matter if I mention the diary first, or the boots first, or don't even mention the diary at all, I *never* get a Thieves' guild messenger telling me to go meet with Gray Fox for my next mission. I have WELL over a thousand gold fenced, and the independent thievery quest (which usually updates directly after talking with Gray Fox) has not updated either. When I talk to Gray Fox the Springheel Jak quest DOES get completed, the boots get removed from my inventory, I get gold, he tells me a messenger will seek me out, etc.

This is a gamebreaking glitch for me. I cannot continue in the Thieves' Guild. Maybe there is a console command I can type in to make Amusei (the messenger) seek me out? or one that gives me the next quest so I don't have to wait for the messenger that apparently is never coming?
