I need information on Shadowscales

Post » Sun Oct 24, 2010 1:03 am

Can anyone give me more information on Shadowscales? I know that they're Argonians born under the sign of the Shadow, and that as children, they're taken into Dark Brotherhood families. Beyond that, however, I don't know much more.

Are they trained from childhood on to be assassins?

Are their markings the same as normal Argonians?

Are all Shadowscales Dark Brotherhood members?

I'd appreciate any info that's available!

I don't think that the Dark Brotherhood took them just to play games with them. I'm sure that the DB starts training them as soon as possible.

It doesn't really say anything about this anywhere. The Shadowscale (Scar-tail, I think?) in Oblivion doesn't really have distinctive markings.

I think the term "Shadowscale" applies specifically to Argonians born under the sign of the Shadow and taken by the DB. So yes, once the DB takes them, they're Shadowscales.

This isn't really an area that I know a lot about lore-wise. This is just based on what I remember from Oblivion.

So, basically it's kind of open to interpretation?

I'm planning on making a race mod, and I'd like to make it as lore-correct as possible.

Good luck.

There's practically no information involving shadowscales besides what you're told in the Boots of Bloody Bounding quest, and it doesn't match Argonian lore in some areas ("Royal Family of Argonia"... what the [censored]?). Just make some stuff up based on what little is available or something. It's probably not going to get a lore update any time soon anyway, given how it felt more like a throwaway scenario for the BoBB quest than actual lore.

Basically, I felt as if what you're told by Ocheeva and her brother in the Dark Brotherhood quests left a lot of unanswered questions. It was as if you got just a tiny bit of info about something that *should* be a big deal. I mean...they state that every Argonian child born under the Shadow becomes a Shadowscale and is immediately taken in by the Dark brotherhood. But, that's all you get. I was hoping there was more info out there about them, but I guess I'll get to be creative with it because of the lack of lore about them.

Thanks for the info guys - and expect a WIP/REL thread in the Morrowind Mods section.
