I am anxiously awaiting my return to Oblivion, and hope someone here can point me to the best detailed directions for installing the game onto Windows 7. Sure, it seems simple enough when watching a youtube video of it, but they just aren't very detailed or articulate. I wanted to find direction before attempting my first installation of the game (onto this particular computer). I'd really like to get it right the first time, as I dislike uninstalling/reinstalling things.
My last/best gaming computer is now resting in pieces; it served me well for many years, but I relied heavily on others to make it work. I am tired of being a computer-dunce, and have decided to make everything in my computer work myself (with minimal hands-on assistance, but much direction). I have built a new box/rig, and installed my OS, drivers and other basic programs (avast/mbam/sas/adobe/firefox/silverlight), and am now ready to install my first and favoured game... OBLIVION! (and if possible/compatible, Morrowind?)
A few years ago, I saw many panicked posts on various forums about installation onto Vista and Windows 7, and I saw several responses were detailed walkthrus of what to do/how to do it. Now that I am using Windows 7, I was hoping to find such a detailed installation guide/walkthru. Alas, most of what I find is a series of simple statements to Install the game as administrator, somewhere other than the default location, turn off UAC, and that I may have to initiate the setup.exe manually. If that is truly all there is to it, I think I can do it, but I would still appreciate a suggestion as to where exactly I should install it to...?
My Query: a step by step Oblivion installation guide for Win7
that I can copy/paste into a folder for now and future reference.
Also, if I have DirectX11, do I still need to DL/Install DirectX9?
Infinite Thanks and Appreciation for any Direction!!! ~Nom
Edit: thought I should add that I have the GOTY edition.
Also, I am fairly sure that my hardware is compatible, as
the relevant specs are listed in various compatibility lists.
