So I boot up my OS on my hard drive, then run the setup.exe on the disc. Screen pops up and I select install. This brings me to a selection of custom or something else. The something else would not delete my files, but just upgrade Windows. Can't really upgrade past Windows 7 now can I? So I press custom and have it erase my C:/ drive and start over. It tells me it won't do that but instead put all my old files into a windows.old on the (kind of?) new C:/ directory. I agree yada yada yada.
Okay, now my computer boots up for the first time, sounds not working. No big deal. Go out to Creative's site, download the SB X-Fi Xtreme Audio soundcard drivers, install and everything seems peachy. Until I install Assassin's Creed Brotherhood. I load it up, looks AWESOME. But the sound. All ambient sounds were working 100%, same with everything else except for the voices. The only way I can describe it was as if someone was in a room, 300 feet away, barely speaking above normal range. Then I installed iTunes, put in a couple songs, sounds great. Until about 2 minutes in where the quality decreases, decreases, decreases, until it also sounds like the room.
I installed Mumble (kinda like Ventrillo) and asked a few buddies what I should do. They told me to do another clean install, but this time, actually make it CLEAN then install. 1) I have no idea how to do this on this Windows CD 2) I have no idea why this even happened. (ALSO: I should point out that my mic has been getting a ridiculous amount of feedback, enough to the point where it crashed the mumble server if I wasn't muted because of all the data I was sending threw my mic.)
tl;dr: please read that... If you're really that lazy:
How can I reinstall Windows 7 without a disc that won't (APPARENTLY) load directly from itself and still be able to reformat.
If I format my harddrive through right clicking the C:/ drive, will that still delete Windows from it? Gah, I need help I've never had this many issues with this machine before.
Well, figured it out. Nevermind lads!
