What I'd like Oblivion to do--
1. Enemies don't level up right along with you.
Personally, I'd like certain enemy levels to stay a few steps behind me. Just for example- say that bandits and marauders stay about 5 levels or so behind me. Yet, enemies that are actually supposed to be epic, stay epic.. like the daedra.
The changes don't have to drastic. Just make me say things like.. "Hmf. Bandits" and "Oh
2. Not having to worry about Efficient Leveling.
Oh, I'd so like to fix this. So very much. Please help.
As it stands, I have to try sneaking around for real-time hours or use skills I'd rather not bother with in order to gain the bonus to agility that I obviously need. For strength, I have to bother with whacking enemies with my fists or with a weapon my character isn't supposed to like using. In previous ES games, I'd just go to a trainer and train certain unused skills to get any needed bonus and thereby remove the above mentioned hassle. For some reason, Bethisda has re-added Daggerfall's "limited training" method, meaning you can only train so much per level. Hrm.. Ok. I'm holding back certain comments here. I mean sure.. I'll be happy to sneak around if I've got a character that's supposed to be doing that. But, thinking how my big, armored knight needs to sneak around in someone's bedroom while people are sleeping because I'm worried about his agility... well, honestly, that's just strange. It sounds like a bad David Letterman joke. Doctor, please give me my pills.
3. Bandits with full suits of glass armor.. what?
I haven't progressed far enough to have seen this, I've just heard of it. Still, even as new as I am to Oblivion, I am very sure this is not a new topic. I'm not going to flame or comment because I am a civilized person. How about a nice, little mod where.. let's say in any cave of bandits, only one of them is wearing just ONE piece of a rare or nice suit of armor.. or maybe a couple of them have higher quality weapons like ebony while the rest have steel weapons or such. Therefore, I am encouraged to explore more of the game world's various places, searching for more nifty stuff. Also, I have heard that shops in cities will eventually be selling the game's best armor and weapons. If so, is there a mod to change that? There's a certain, little feeling of neatness when you're striding around with an ebony claymore.. but that's ruined when every little shop in town sells them and every other person uses them as walking sticks. Ugh.
Extra credit-
I've heard that the lesser items (like iron weapons and armor) tend to vanish from the game as you level up. I won't complain about that too much, but it would be more realistic in the game if the most basic stuff remained the most common of stuff if you get what I mean.
I know there's mods out there and I've done some searching. I've read lots of their descriptions and I'm honestly not sure which mods come closest to these 3 particular things I've mentioned above. I hope someone can make some suggestions.
As it stands, I've stopped playing Oblivion. I really want to pick this game up and enjoy it in the way an adventure game should be enjoyed. Especially because of the game's story. But, the way it currently is, well.. I just don't like it. It's just not fun for me and all the other games in this series were just so enjoyable. I am, however, very curious as to what Bethisda's strategy was when they were making this game.
