I need mod that adds more smithing trainers or some way to raise my smithing without a cheat.

I seem to hit a wall at 98 smithing skill. I need to get to 100. Are there any mods that add smitining trainers?

I know I might be able to "grind" by smiting a lot of iron weapons or what ever, but that is not fun to me, I would rather pay for training.

I'm not sure if you consider that a cheat, but I never understood why there is a imposed cap of 90, when in Oblivion you can be trained to 100. o_o

Just carry on playing and you'll eventually get to level 100. :P

I also use Arthmoor's Ars Metallica mod and have no problem to raise my smithing skill to 100 then make it legendary then raise it to 100 a second time. Here is a trick I always use in-game.

If you have a lot daggers e.g iron, steel and have limited ingots of iron, steel in your inventory then improved the daggers on the grindstone first then add them in the smelter to produce iron, steel ingots. Also check how many ingots any armor or weapons will produce when melting it in the smelter, but I only do that if I can get more ingots then it requires to improve it on a grindstone or on a workbench.

Of course make sure you don't melt down a valuble item in the smelter. :P

I presume you're using "Smelting Plus"?

Never mind, I see you mentioned Ars Metallica, I guess that's part of that mod.

yeah unfortunately I already had the "train to 100" mod in my game. I forgot about that. The problem is that that mod will not work in many cases because the dialogue flag is not handled by the mod and the dialogue to train will not show once you are past the trainers normal limit. So although the limit is now up to 100 the trainer will not start the training because you cannot select that dialogue.

The only way for this mod to work is to train up to 100 FROM less than 90. Once you are past 90 but you are not in the middle of training you are again locked out "indirectly".

So I just went to 5 different smiths, purchased ALL their iron and leather strips and did the grind (made a ton of iron daggers), then sold the daggers I made back to them. But now I am 100 smithing!

See. What did I tell you it worked didn't it. :D

I know there are a few smiths, in Riverwood and in Riften plus 1-2 more smiths, who have iron ingots and sometimes also have steel ingots laying on the ground and those ingots are safe to take. ;)

I like Ars Metallica for this aswell

Best thing about being able to smelt down the metal from all those daggers ..

Ars Metallica increases your Smithing skill from using smelters too, so even the process of recycling resources from items you do not need / making ingots from ore is beneficial to the skill.

Edit : You will probably do it anyway at some point but Leo's warning about not smelting down something valuable .. I crafted a really nice bow up to legendary once and forgot to read what smelting a particular resource would be taking that resource from - Click gone

( Did not realise until quite a few hours gameplay later, and I was keeping saves to a minimum at the time, re-using three slots )

It also adds the need to have crafting feathers to make arrows, and quite a few other nice additions to the immersion of crafting.

Work Saurnach Mine and Kolskeggr Mine for all the gold and silver; jewelry has some pretty high values (which the patched smith skill-upping works on) and requires no perks to make. If you're pinching up every gem you find, you should have plenty of gem materials as well. If you have the latest SkyUI installed, you can sort smithing recipes by the most valuable to get the most bang for your buck with your supplies. Mining ore veins also frequently (but randomly) spits up a gem alongside an ore nugget as well. Nordic barrow urns seem to be where I get most of mine.

Ars Metallica also adds Smithing skill boosts to mining and smelting, but that's already been mentioned.

Depending on the wares they're set to trade in (or if you have the Merchant perk), all that jewelry also works well to recuperate liquid monetary assets after a training spree with a dual-purpose trainer/vendor. Especially those that are Master trainers, who charge huge amounts for the >Expert-level training sessions.

Forsaken Cave has a lot of silver bars laying about (and a bowl of gold bars a bit past the flamethrower pressure plate room that you might have passed by unawares) for some pre-made ingots.
