need more ranks, abilities, guns and levels.

Post » Mon May 16, 2011 11:55 am

i got the game as soon as it came out in my country on thursday, and i've already got a medic who's level 18 rank 4.

I've used every weapon before,

i've reset my abilities 3-4 times,

i've done every mission on security and resistance (including what if's)

i've got every weapon attachment,

and its only saturday morning.

To me, this game feels like its only half finished and needs more of everything, except storylines (10 each is enough.)

I mean, level 20 is about 500k exp which is 1/5 of a prestige on MW2, but since you get 2x less points its about 1/3

i personally think we need more of these:

Abilities
Shotguns
Rocket Launchers
Levels
Maps
Ranks
MAYBE clothes
MAYBE another body type (small or tall, small meaning they slide further, faster and cant jump as high and maybe tall meaning they can run faster, climb higher than every other class. idk just a suggestion)

and things we dont have but would be nice to use:

Rader sensor (a universal ability that lets the player give out one of these to another player that lets them see everybody on the radar for a short period of time)

combat swords(replaces secondary or primary, 1 shot kill but need to be right next to them and takes a second to use, also has a cooldown)

Holographic (lets an operative make a clone of themself standing in one spot depending if they were crouching or walking at the time)

Cloak (lets an operative buff another player with 50% transparency for a short period of time)

Strength (lets a medic buff another player to go up a body type in list without effecting their speed or climbing height

Agile (a high rank universal ability that lets the player climb faster)

Robotic Dog (lets a high rank engineer place down a Robotic Dog that moves at the same speed as a medium body type and does %33 damage)

Healing Station (lets a high rank medic place down a Healing station that heals all people within a small radius by 50% per 3 seconds if not in combat. Healing station is in use for 30 seconds and has small health, if it gets shot by a rocket or a couple of bullets it will be destroyed)

profession kit (a high rank medic ability that buffs a player to be able to use a HE charge, cannot use on self)

Unstoppable (a high rank soilder ability that lets every class able to take less falling damage)

cats eyes (a high rank operative ability that makes a flash bang effect last only for 2 seconds, vision will be SLIGHTLY blurred afterwards for 30 seconds every time the player gets flash'd)

Reinforced iron (a high rank engineer ability that lets an engineer buff their own turrets to take more damage and deal more damage)

I have to say, this game does lack content, which I thought there would be a bunch more.. but..

I say.. why not be happy with what you got? I mean.. this games been out a week, and everyone and their mothers are asking for the moon, and Elvis's dead body.

You're idea's are great, but think about it.. You know how much work that is? For a company who just put out their first console game.. released it early because of fans, just for them all to crap all over them with horrible things to say about Brink?

People expected to much of this game, and looked for the next best thing after CoD. Well, it didn't happen. So, it's either, you put the game down until June.. or keep playing, and try to understand and utilize classes more for their true potential. That's what I do.

I'm sorry, but...

Ew.

Just... no.

I DO like the idea of giving Operatives a "resist flashbang" ability - maybe make it so vision blurs and things go hazy, but not quite as badly as normal. It could be a universal "dark glasses" ability just as easily as Op-only though. No matter what though, would NEVER call it "cat's eyes" - cat eyes are MORE sensitive to sudden changes in brightness, and they'd be blinded worse, not less.

Most of your ideas, to me, seem pretty ridiculous though - either MASSIVELY OP or totally against everything that makes Brink what it is.

The purpose of leveling up is to restrict access to more complex tactical options until you're experienced enough to understand them - not so you can go hamster-wheeling through the levels and get "better." The game doesn't give the high-level players a huge and insurmountable advantage over the low-level players - it rewards skill FAR more than it rewards that useless player who spends 12 hours a day on the game. The fun of Brink is in the challenge of anticipating your enemies' actions and countering them, and in doing your part for the team, not in saying "I've got 238 hours of playtime and a KDR of 10 and I can pwn you because I have the cool OP gun you only unlock on your 258th prestige run!" (exaggeration, of course, but I hope you see what I mean here).

Rader sensor (a universal ability that lets the player give out one of these to another player that lets them see everybody on the radar for a short period of time)

Universal? So everyone would have it then wouldnt they? Might as well make it part of the game cause it would be a required skill

combat swords(replaces secondary or primary, 1 shot kill but need to be right next to them and takes a second to use, also has a cooldown)

seriously? Combat swords? OHK is bad mmkay

Holographic (lets an operative make a clone of themself standing in one spot depending if they were crouching or walking at the time)

Maybe but still seems a little... silly. We are still using projective weapons in this world, i think Holographic clones is maybe a bit to much for the world style

Cloak (lets an operative buff another player with 50% transparency for a short period of time)

No no no. So they can cloak, use the radar sense, equip a OHK combat sword and randomly 1 shot people in the backlines? This is your idea?

Strength (lets a medic buff another player to go up a body type in list without effecting their speed or climbing height

actually not a bad idea, would need to be a temp bonus of like 10 seconds but not a bad idea

Agile (a high rank universal ability that lets the player climb faster)

again good job i think it works for the world and fits the fast and furious gameplay doesnt let anyone climb what they are not supposed to just do what they do... faster

Robotic Dog (lets a high rank engineer place down a Robotic Dog that moves at the same speed as a medium body type and does %33 damage)

bleh then you lost it. So were does the resistance get this robo AI from? They can barely get a rocket to launch correctly!

Healing Station (lets a high rank medic place down a Healing station that heals all people within a small radius by 50% per 3 seconds if not in combat. Healing station is in use for 30 seconds and has small health, if it gets shot by a rocket or a couple of bullets it will be destroyed)

Yay for circle jerking around the healing station. No, cause this will cause more camping in the game and less movement.

profession kit (a high rank medic ability that buffs a player to be able to use a HE charge, cannot use on self)

Huh? One... wait the ONLY interaction I can think of for the Soldier can be given to anyone? Booo.

Unstoppable (a high rank soilder ability that lets every class able to take less falling damage)

I already dont take falling damage thanks for the SMART system :) Wouldnt waste a slot or a point for it

cats eyes (a high rank operative ability that makes a flash bang effect last only for 2 seconds, vision will be SLIGHTLY blurred afterwards for 30 seconds every time the player gets flash'd)

30 seconds? Again you are slowing down the combat with this idea, just... a bad idea sorry. Lowering the effect of a flashbang is fine, but... yeah no to the rest.

Reinforced iron (a high rank engineer ability that lets an engineer buff their own turrets to take more damage and deal more damage)

meh there is already a high rank engineer ability that does this... its called a gattling turret.

So you want comments... but not on the ideas if we dont like them?

A more specific comment on the "Radar sensor" ability.

Trying to invalidate half the point of Operatives, are you?

Ever hear of Comms hack - EVERYONE on your team gets temporary radar on ALL enemies.

My possible new abilities

Universal:

- Fake Death: Pretend to be dead when you are in fact only incapacitated. If used in combination with Downed Fire, drawing a weapon will reveal you.

Operative:

- Computer Geek: Fast capturing and firewalling of command posts.
- Inconspicuous: Don't reveal a class marker or health bar when aimed at, even when incapacitated.

Soldier:

- (name?): Bonus damage against Medics and Operatives.
- Bodybuilder: Increased melee damage.

There are two shotguns. Though i wouldn't mind a sawed-off lever with a pistol grip that Lights can use.

Rocket Launcher? Uh...no. Rocket Launchers are used to damage/destroy armor. Since there is no armor in the game there is no need for a rocket launcher.

The three standard body types is enough. We don't need another one. What would be the point?

Since I agree with most of what Ostra comments about I'll only talk about certain abilities.

Combat Sword? This weapon is so ridiculous even the name is ridiculous. What is a non-combat sword exactly? If swords are so great why is it we don't use them, in fact I can't think of any modern military force that uses them. We use knives, knives are scary, knives are personal, knives are what we use and that's pretty much what pistols let you use.

Cloak...um...I could see a cloak working, since this is technology we have already developed or are on the verge of developing (if we have it, you'll never hear about it).

Strength. What exactly would the point be? All the larger bodies do is give you more health and access to bigger weapons at the cost of mobility and speed. Might as well just give medics another level of health boost.

Agility. No, different reason than strength. It makes being a Light totally pointless.

Robotic Dog...WHAT? Why not just a little vehicle with low small amount of health and a shotgun attached to it?

Cat Eyes. You mean polarized goggles? I think it's a little funny to have an ability that's only purpose is to counteract another ability.

You have to fall an incredible distance before you experience it. This game, unlike so many, were you take massive damage from falling from a one story building and death after falling from a two story building this game is a little bit more realistic, especially since everyone is trained in parkour.

Non-combat sword = decorative. The kind that's a movie replica, or just something shiny to hang on your wall and attract the magpies.

Modern military force which trains with swords = Japan's Spec-Ops teams. And no, I'm not joking. They're also allowed to take swords on operations, but most don't. Some of the Eastern Bloc nations train their Special Forces guys to go unarmed against people with swords too. Probably in case they have to fight Japan.

Oh, I'm sure Japanese spec-ops train with swords. I'm also sure Chinese spec-ops do as well.

TrenchKnife, nice avatar. I have Global Agenda, its pretty cool but they don't do enough content updates...like say a new open zone.

i'd like to see certain two-hand guns get a front-end bayonette attachment so they can have the knife-melee attack that a pistol does (if you're using a shotgun and smg combo the shotty might get the bayo - metro 2033 had a combat shotgun with a bayonette, just sayin as an example)

before anymore people complain about the robotic dog and combat swords,

i actually meant combat knives but that sounded too much like COD so i used swords as the word.

because if you all noticed, the bug guy gets killed with knives in the trailer.

and robotic dogs was a horrible idea, i must agree to that.

before that i was thinking a turret on wheels that shoots rockets at enemies and destroys certain objectives depending on what it is,

but then i thought that would be too over powered so i decided to make it a robotic attack dog instead.

Wow…

And here I thought I was unreasonable due to the fact that I just want more clothes & maps.
Only thing I see that I would like are more weapons, maps, and clothes.

Another mode would be a hub of sorts. A game mode where you can free roam, talk with players (or a clan), practice, ect., without worrying about objectives.
Another idea would be to have a character screen that you could post online.

You have knives when you're using a pistol.

Knife melee doesn't knock down like gunbutts do, but does extra damage.

i know we have knives on pistols, but 2 knives that swing when using LT and RT (xbox controller) would be pretty cool.

I'm one of those people who wish they didn't rush this game and bring it out a month or two later when they had more things.

I'm angry at the fans who made them release it early, i only discovered brink when i went to watch the trailer for skyrim 1 week before brink actually came out.

i hope they add some more things to the game, i mean i wouldn't even care if it costed a fair bit.

I just want to see more out of this game, or even a use for exp after you hit a max level.

If they do dual-wield knives, you'd pretty much have to have dual-wield pistols as well, and maybe SMGs.

That would be REALLY hard to code.

Also, you're planning to give up grenades for the option to dual-wield secondaries? Actually, that might be a good way to balance it...

You lose grenades (including Molotovs, Stickies, Caltrops, Lazarus) when your secondary weapon is equipped, but you have two - and for dual knives, you could press the normal melee button for a double-slash that has knockdown. Any other dual-wield option would have a weakened bashing melee attack (think pistol whip) that does normal gunbutt damage, but without the knockdown.
