Need a new mouse

Post » Mon Mar 24, 2014 4:11 pm

I recently purchased the Roccat Kone (last year some time) and I've noticed that both my left click and right click don't necessarily pick up. This is not only in ESO but in office apps and web-browsing etc. I've updated the drivers, tried mouse on diff pc etc.. but the issue still persists. I will be doing an RMA in the very near future.

However, I'm kind of tired of spending $50+ on a mouse only to have it fail in a short time frame. What do you all recommend as a good mouse? I mainly play MMO's or Single Person RPG's / strategy. Plenty of office apps and web browsing too. Looking for some advice on a solid mouse that will last more than a year or two and not break the bank.

I bought my logitech mouse for $10 about 4 years ago and it works just fine.

Not sure how it is compared to what else is on the market but it works great for me is a Razer Naga, I bought after my first beta session and it's just a lot smoother and with the numbers on the side of the mouse also helps out in battle. Just my opinion though.

I fell in love with a standard Microsoft Wheel Optical mouse. It lasted for a good 6 years and I went and bought a new one right after. These days it won't cost you more than $25. In the end these are all preferences though.

I've never been a fan of the flashier "gaming" mice and keyboards. A simple Logitech mouse will last you years, and function as intended. I think I spent $30-40 on my mouse, and I only did that because I thought the blue was pretty...

I've had a razer naga for about 5 years now. I use the keyboard to move around and the mouse side buttons for my skill attacks.

I used a R.A.T. 7 for a while... it's a bit pricey. It seemed to start having problems and needed to be cleaned frequently so the laser would work on my desk surface.

Recently I picked up a Logitech M510 wireless. So far it's great, only has a couple extra side buttons, not sure of your preference. The only down is I find it's laggy a bit if I plug the receiver in the back of my computer, a tad far with things in the way. But plugged into a front port it works great. And I think it's within your price range. 2x AA's last pretty long too. Still haven't changed them out, never turn it off... and I've had it for at least a month or longer.

Here's one $40 CAD

I had the same problem.....spending over $50 on a mouse that never lasted. I decided to try to find a "diamond in the rough" type mouse and have had this one for about 6 months now. Cheap in price, but not design or feel. Has good weight to it, but not overly heavy for a mouse. Great stability on the mouse pad! Goes up to 4000 dpi, even though the product info says it's 2000. Once I downloaded the software for the mouse from Perixx, I am able to get up to the 4000DPI. And it's German designed.

I use a G500s, and I also have a G400 on the other machine. Solid mice, not too expensive, and they're logitech, so they last.

The only big suggestion I would make is to buy actually plug-in mouses and keyboards. IMO, wireless mouses and keyboards lag too much.

I personally have a more gamer style mouse, because like Bigfatdan I like having certain things on the mouse itself. If that is not desired by you personally, just get one that's hard connected.

I bought a Razer Naga 5 years ago, it still works great. I have worn the finish off the 1-6 side buttons but They still respond perfectly. The thing with the Naga is it takes a little bit to get used to. I remember the first 3 days I was suffering some serious remorse, by day 5 I couldnt imagine playing without it.

If you're gonna be doing high end pve or pvp, wired is the only way to go. I used to love wireless, until my mouse and keyboard kept dying in the middle of pvp or a high end pve instance lol.

Is that true? I don't seem to experience any type of delay with my wireless mouse. And I HATED the old wired ones. I felt like I was constantly picking up my mouse and tugging the cord upward.

As I mentioned... there was a bit of lag when the receiver was plugged in the back. But in my front port (USB 3.0) the only time I'll notice lag is when my CPU is chugging away at something, which sometimes happens on a wired mouse. Other than that, running smooth as butter.

*For something that doesn't move like the keyboard, I would stay wired... But as Hailey mentioned, tugging on the mouse cord sometimes can be annoying.

Just have to get a mouse with a longer cord is all. The one I linked in my post above has like a 6ft cord and it's braided to keep the cord from becoming "twisted".

I picked up a Logitech G600 a couple weeks ago - as it's always bothered me trying to stab at mapped skill/action/utility keys while using k/b for movement, as well. I can't speak to the longevity of this particular model, but I've never had a Logitech fail (either cabled or wireless) - others' mileage may vary. I am still perfecting which of the thumb buttons I want to map for maximum efficiency, but now I can't imagine trying to use my skill/attack rotations without it.

I had one but I think I got a lemon because every time I would unplug it from USB it would get erratic reception and the pointer was all over the place. I'm going to give another one a try, crossing my fingers.

I've been using Roccat for years now, but Kova, not Kone: http://www.gamersdailynews.com/userfiles/ROCCAT-Kova_AllCollage.jpg

I think it's painfully obvious this thread was created specifically talking about purchasing a new mouse for ESO, and therefore belongs in the ESO forum. Try examining context as well as content.

Well, individual mileage may differ, but I'd rather have a wired one with a longer cord as was mentioned, yes. But I have it on good authority that I can be a bit ... picky, if not outright COD about some things ... *twitches*
