I need a new name for my character.

Post » Wed Sep 11, 2013 2:24 am

I liked the name Hrafna, but recently I realized there's another character in Skyrim called Hrefna.

Now Hrafna is a feminized form of the Norse word for ''raven'' (Hrafn). I have no idea what Hrefna means but still, the names are too similar for me, which is bothering. When I make Nord names I always look for Norse words that mean something.

I'll have to get used to a different name. But I came up with a few.

This character is very gloomy and sorrowful, though very elegant and mysterious aswell. Therefore, majority, if not all the names have the same atmosphere.

Leysa: Which means ''tear''.

Brotnasál: Broken ''Brotna'' and soul ''Sál'' put together. Broken soul.

Feigramaer: Doomed ''Feigr'' and maiden ''Maer'' put together. Doomed Maiden. Feigr also means dead, so you could also call her a dead maiden.

Tholasál: Suffer ''Thola'' and soul ''Sál'' once again. Suffering soul.

I'd like to know your opinion. Any other ideas, perhaps?

I think you should stick with Hrafna.

Oh boy. I enjoy these threads because it gives me an opportunity to act like a 5 year old. My suggestion: Lips Witherspoon.

You can't.

But a while ago I accidently deleted ''Hrafna''. Since I came up with a nice build for her, I will remake her.

But with a different name because I dislike the similarity between Hrefna and Hrafna.

Drifa is a simple yet elegant name meaning drifting snow.

Team up with Mjoll, which means powdered snow if I'm not mistaken, and you've got yourself a team.

Hehe, yeah Mjoll and ''she'' are somewhat different though.

While Mjoll is definitely going the warrior route, my character is going to be a sneaky type who practices illusion and necromancy.

Nevermind anyway, there's already a Drifa in Skyrim.

Sorry about that.

Yeah, I thought so aswell.

I believe it was from a character in Riften.

You'd have to make a new character do to that if you're on console.

You can always go for that other black bird, Kráka (crow).

Just don't model your character after Brandon Lee. :) He's too pretty for a female character.

I'm kind of digging Leysa and Thodasál.

A bit odd for a parent to call her daughter a suffering soul. But to call your daughter a tear? A symbol of beauty within sorrow? That might do.

You can imagine her to be more like http://fc07.deviantart.net/fs36/f/2008/261/d/2/Forest_of_sorrow_by_endlessnight_m.jpg.

So no, no Brandon Lee. :D

Anyway, my vote goes to Leysa.

Yeah I'm going for Leysa.

It's feminine and elegant, but still norse.
