Need an oppinion

Post » Tue Dec 29, 2009 1:39 pm

Hey i have been on these forums a lot but never really posted. Completely forgot about the account i made here. :D

So here is my questions: I recently deleted World of Warcraft from my computer and it freed up about half of my hard drive. (its a pretty small hard drive) i have been looking around on steam for awhile and i was going to DL Fallout 3 because i have been watching Bashur's video logs. (http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1069054-fallout-video-chronicles-adventures-in-the-wasteland-and-beyond/)

So i was going to buy Fallout 3. Now what one should i get though? i can get Fallout 3 with no expantions for $30. Or i can wait a few days and get some money to get Fallout 3 GOTY that has all the expantions for $50. My main question is what one do you think i should get? Think i should get the one i can play now or wait and get the GOTY? If i get the $30 one how much more is each DLC? can i get them for free?

Thanks in advance.

Wait a few days and go for the GOTY edition. If you don't you'll ask yourself, "Now why didn't I just wait a few more days to have all of that extra stuff added and make my game a bazillion times more interesting than it already is?"

Yeah, $50 is a deal. I had to pay $50 for Fallout 3 and then spend the extra money for each DLC.

Definitely wait and get the GOTY. A lot of mods require at least some of the DLCs. You'd miss out on some nice experiences and assets to use in modmaking by rushing to get just the main game.

"Can my computer handle it?" That's the one question that you need to ask yourself before you buy any PC game.

Oblivion and Fallout 3 both have the same requirements really. If your comp can't take Oblivion it won't be able to take FO3.

What are your computer specs?

If your computer can run the game, definitely go for the GOTY edition.

Why buy Fallout New Vegas for the Xbox? Hell, why buy any Bethesda game for a console when so much more can be added/done with mods? As for buying a downloadable version. My advice is to never do that. Always get a physical copy then install and run from the main exe (or even better through Fallout Mod manager) after you set options in the loader, then put the dvd away somewhere. Always always always buy bethesda games for the pc and not a console. You will never regret it.

I normally would agree with you on that but you saw my topic in the mod forum about my computer. I need a better one before i even consider getting PC games.

If your computer can take it, order the GOTY edition and say goodbye to your life. You're upgrading to a better one.

My comp is way worse than yours. It's like a XP Home Edition. I can't play on PC either. Or any other 3D game for that matter.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but you should have visited the Oblivions forums before buying it. From http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/561101-unofficial-technical-faq/ at the top of the Hardware and Support forum:

Intel graphic chips:

The Intel 965 Express and above chipsets seem to be capable of running the game with the latest drivers (enables Hardware T&L), but don't expect great performance. HERE is a thread that may help you if you own this specific chip amd are having problems.

Possible workaround is Oldblivion with the Intel 9xx IGPs lower than the 965...good luck is all I have to say in that regard. Research the Oldblivion forums for your specific chipset for some hopeful solutions.

For Intel 8xx IGPs, forget it.

Maybe they have something up their sleeves to help with Oldblivion but...
Good luck.
