Need Realistic Ideas

Hello! I'll start by saying i love to roleplay my characters, but have never gotten truly immersed in any of them. I decided to create a new stealthed based character after magic lost its fun and bashing everythings skull in became too easy...

Anywho, I like to roleplay dynamically, meaning i don't always stick to a specific script and i usually want there to be a plot development throughout my roleplay. This is hard to do all in my imagination when I'm dealing with pesky wolves and imps non-stop to insure efficient levelling( I know there is mods, I'm not interested, i used to play with tons but went back to vanilla). I like it when my character slowly turns into the person i created him to be.

I have an idea of what to do about this but need suggestions and some open minded people to really help me out. I think you guys can really add to my basis for a truly entertaining role-play.

As of now, Harken (my character), has been recruited into a notorious band of assasins after breaking into a rage and murdering a slanderous skooma dealer.... which doesn't differ too much from the original reason he ended up in prison (tutorial). He has grown to despise many other races due to ridicule and emotionally painful slander(he is bosmeri), and as a result avoids society in its traditional sense. He had no problem being murderous at the time, but his consious has started to bear guilt. Furthermore, after his first contract he has realized that this assasination business is going to be demanding both physically and mentally, so he's decided to take time off to hone his skills.

Currently, I'm trying to decide just how to do that in a way that fits his character. I have thought of just hunting animals but it's rather boring; I've tried thieving but he hates authority and society, so seeing sleeping home-owners fuels his anger and makes it hard for him to resist murder ( even though he has become an assasin, he has a soft spot somewhere inside ). I'm thinking about dungeon diving mostly, hunting monsters and such while creeping among the shadows, to build marksman and sneak.

My question is, What type of activities could you see as a realistic way to not only build someones skills in assasination but also leads him into a cold-blooded life? Remember he can't bring himself to just continue to kill people without going insane, his consious won't let him.

I need some creative responses with ideas of hobbies, activities, and training methods that fit this style of roleplay. What job could he perform? I'm open to any and all imaginative ideas here. Start thinking!

Thanks ahead of time,

In spite of what you said I think the thieves guild would be perfect. Just think of it as another job, just like assassination (you know, without actually assassinating anyone.) Sneaking through people's houses is a skill required of both thieves and assassins so he would be training himself in that respect and I think ressisting the urge to slaughter people in their sleep would be a good way to build discipline, which I believe would be a very important skill for any assassin. There are plenty of opportunities to train your combat skills elswhere between jobs. Just because someone's a thief doesn't mean they can't clear a dungeon every once in a while.

I second the post above. Let's look at it for a minute. He hates society. He hates seeing people peacefully sleeping in bed but can't bring himself to kill a complete stranger yet. You want him to hone his skills but also slowly develop into a murderer. I say a combination of dungeon diving and thievery. Following orders of the Thieves guild, entering castles in order to find loot and seeing how greedily they live, and I'm sure you can come up with more reasons. Not to mention that so many people think that the Thieve's guild is a myth and the Grey Fox is able to hide his identity so well.. why not? Your character might believe he has a thing or two to learn from him. After all, he was arrested once, and if this Grey Prince guy can steal as much as he wants and avoid authority perhaps he can teach you to do the same.

Inerestingly enough, i see the validity in your ideas.

Perhaps it is discipline and thievery that would in fact develop his motives to become a killer. The urges to kill would eventually become too strong and he would murder, then turn back to the dark brotherhood to satisfy his needs for killing.

Aside from that, however, what kind of hobbies would a thieving assasin have? Collecting rare artifacts or items? HIs victims personal belongings? Something.......else?

Also, I have come to want a second life for him. Thieving/Murdering by night, and perhaps a hunting woodsman or travelling merchant alchemist by night....

I would still very much enjoy any further suggestions or role-play ideas for this character, he is my most fun character yet, by level 5...

Thanks Again!
