Need Suggestions on levling.

I have 47 hours of game time completed and I'm still level 2 (only level 2 because I slept to advance quest for mage guild).

My major skills:

Alchemy-92
Conjuration-48
Illusion-52
Restoration-48
Mercantile-34
Security-42
Speechcraft-34

Minor skills:

Armorer-21
Athletics-36
Blade-26
Block-32
Blunt-5
Hand to hand-9
Heavy armor-7
Alteration-63
Destruction-44
Mysticism-38
Acrobatics-39
Light Armor-46
Marksmen-5
Sneak-61

Base stats at level 1:

Str-40 (put +5 into this when I hit level 2 making it 45)
Int-50
will-60 (put +5 into this when I hit level 2 making it 65)
agi-30
speed-30
end-45 (put +5 into this when I hit level 2 making it 50)
personality-40
luck-55

Now the problem.. I thought I had everything set in my major catagory to keep me lower level, but I ended up using my "major" abilities more than I had anticipated (especially alchemy!!)

I have the full Crusader (knights of the nine) armor-just have to complete the final raid at umarils

I have the gray fox cowl (reset my infamy after getting the cowl in order to get crusade armor

Now I dont really know what to do next.. should I sleep and get my levels up some? (I found when I slept for other levels, i didnt have the +5 boost for my abilities that I had for level 1.

at level 1, advancing to level 2, my stat increase possibilities were

STR +5
Int +4
Will +5
Agi +5
Speed +5
End +5

I ended up increasing str, will and end..

the reason I'm confused now is that when I try to increase to level 3.. I dont get the same results with the possibilities to increase the base stats.. even worse.. the higher i put my level.. the lower they got..

Question: Does this mean I need to spend more time at each individual level to get the +5 option on my base stats?

Question: Should I just up my level to a certain point? i.e. is 10 a good level to be?

sorry.. total noob at this game and only playing because of the hype skyrim has LOL

Every time you level up the amount you can increase your base stats by is determined by what skills you raised in between your previous level and your new level.

That means because you waited so long before leveling up the first time you were able to increase you base stats by a lot, however it means the next few times you level up you will not be able to increase your base stats by much at all (as you will not be raising skills much between levels so you will not have a +5 boost for each stat).

So yes you need to spend more time between each level to get a +5 for a stat (each stat has certain skills corresponding with it, so if you level up say Blade a lot between levels you will have a +5 stat boost for Strength the next time you level up).

And it is up to you with how high you want to level. Judging by how high you have raised your skills you will be able to level up quite a few times consecutively, but some players like to stay a low level and never level up. This means however that the game will become absurdly easy and you need to level up for higher level equipment and monsters to appear in the game e.g. Minotaurs and Ebony Armour. But the choice is up to you!

When you delay leveling, as you have, the "stat multipliers" get set in the background, each time you raise any combination of Major Skills by a total of 10. From that point, you can no longer affect those multipliers. Because you leveled Alchemy (and other majors) quickly, you must now level up several times with poor multipliers before you are "current" with your leveling. From that point on, you can train minor skills to get better multipliers.

I'm thinking, from looking at your skills stats (not knowing your character's race) that you are "really" about level 10 (or more). When you level up now, you will actually become much weaker than the world around you, because you will not advance your attributes very much, but you will suddenly encounter much stronger enemies.

You have two (or three, or even possibly four) choices. 1 - Don't sleep, and avoid leveling forever. 2 - Level up, and set the difficulty slider most of the way over to the left (assuming you've been playing with it in the middle up to now), which will adjust the relative damage given/taken in combat.

Third choice would be to start a new character, and approach leveling with a mind to getting better multipliers.

If you're on PC, you could install one of the Leveling mods, like Realistic Leveling. This will level you up, taking into account all the skills you have actually used, and your character will be much stronger at your new level than he'll be with "vanilla" leveling.

Thanks for the input.. I went in thinking I had a good understanding of the levling system, but I was obviously wrong. I may just keep this guy low level and only sleep as required to advance main quest line.. It has started to get easy, but I may just burn through it so I can get to skyrim. My goal was to have this game keep me company till Xmas when I figure they will have a DLC of skyrim and a sale already :D

You don't really need to level up if you don't want to, just enchant items to make up for the lack of magica and health.

I to am waiting for the DLC of Skyrim with a good sale on.
