Don't ask for tips. This is a role-playing game, which means you can succeed with pretty much any build you create. There is no perfect, and you find most joy in this game if you do things your way.

On the dog and the mutant, they are met in a junkyard in northeastern Capital Wasteland, and in a vault late in the Main Quest, respectively. They are not the only companions though and being glitched to have absurd powers in Broken Steel*, they might even be game-breakers.

* A downloadable content (DLC) expansion

i got you, but still, i dont know from where to start,
maybe i just use the first one for lockpick for the quest for disram the bomb in megatron..
can you tell me more about northeastern Capital Wasteland?
i remember myself going underground where theres alot of trains and fighting with super mutants and gouls after disram the bomb..
where to go after?

I'll tell you this much, it helps to get some caps to start. And, Repair is a useful skill through most of the game. So, tag your Repair skill and fix the pipes in Megaton. You'll get 200 caps.

You do know there's a whole forum section for Cheats, hints and spoilers, doncha? I'm sure a nice mod will shift this over there shortly.

Spoiler

Lockpick isn't the skill you need for the bomb.

Welcome to the forums :foodndrink:

First rule of thumb about skills is you should have at least one combat skill tagged which ever combat skill you want your character to use throughout the game. Tagging repair is also a good choice. The third one is a toss up if you want a sneaky character or not. If you want a sneaky character then tag sneak. First thing you should do out of the vault is pay Silver a visit, and speech check her for 400 caps which is good starting out money. You can also kill her, but you mentioned your playing a good guy. Then head on over to megaton. To disarm the bomb you will need a 25 in explosives. Say if you at 18 you can take a mentants to boost it to 25 which is what I normally do. Just pop a few points into explosives on your first level up out of the vault, and you should be good to go. There is a hunting rifle behind the school in a fenced in area, but its in bad shape, and in a very irradiated spot. So if you want a decent gun go get it. After that pay Moira a visit at craterside supply, and she will get you going on a nice long mission. Hope this helped ;)

You decide what you want to do. That said, a good start for new players is to visit Moira at Craterside Supply in Megaton. She will ask you to help on a project. Say yes. Take breaks in the middle and explore.
