Totally off topic, but I can't help but wondering: why on earth do threads like this get far more attention and time dedicated to it than the average WIPz or RELz threads? I don't get it at all....
Troll may not be the right word for this, but the effect is the same. The person is pushing all the right buttons.
What are the real questions asked? At each reply he deflects the detractions, gives a rallying cry, and then says nothing and asks nothing with real content.
This board is so primed for that kind of thing to. People are really helpful here - to a fault almost. Well here comes the breakdown.
[edit] from the wikipedia itself http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Troll_(Internet).
And this very salient passage:
As described by Robert Bond in The International Review of Law, Computers & Technology, trolls usually exhibit a typical pattern of behavior:
In ‘The Art of Trolling’ published on the web it is suggested that ‘in Usenet usage, a “troll” is not a grumpy monster that lives beneath a bridge accosting passers by, but rather a provocative posting to a news group intended to produce a large volume of frivolous responses. The content of a “troll” posting generally falls into several areas. It may consist of an apparently foolish contradiction or common knowledge, a deliberately offensive insult to the readers of the news group or a broad request for trivial follow-up postings.
Foolish presentation of contradictions of common knowledge already outlined and found in http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1090401-need-your-guys-help-on-merging-my-mods-about-1500/page__view__findpost__p__15905297 Note the requests for trivial follow-up postings.
