Needed more survival gameplay

Skyrim would have been far better if we could have built shelters, made fire, had water/food/sleep and temperature penalties, and generally fought the elements as much as dragons. There's a mod for that sure there's mods, but they could have done something unique here.

It's an interesting concept, but you can't expect it to be a focus in a RPG. Although Obsidian did add a hardcoe mode in New Vegas with these survival mechanics. Bethesda could take some notes and have a similar feature in the next TES.

I don't think so. Mods are a nice option, but that's simply not what the game is about. Majority of people would probably go insane if their super interesting dungeon delving would be interrupted by their character being hungry.

They could just make a hardcoe mode like New Vegas had. Then it's totally optional and independent of difficulty.

Edit: for a future title I mean.

Survival on games like TES doesn't make any sense. It's a pure fantasy game. RPGs with survival it's a nice concept but not with TES.

Seeing how popular Frostfall and Realistic Needs and Diseases is, not to mention all the survival games popping up on steam every 2 seconds i think it's likely they'll add a hardcoe mode in the next game.

Personally i think it adds another level to the gameplay, atleast in a climate like Skyrim, i don't really use those kinds of mods for Morrowind or Oblivion but i just need to have them when i play Skyrim. Situations pop up like when you're stuck in a blizzard in the Pale, no wood ,little food and need to take shelter in a dungeon you might have otherwise overlooked or die adds another layer of immersion and fun.

But for many it would just be a chore.

I agree.

As for the chore part? Make survival mode optional. It's a win win imo.

Agreed, having it as optional would be really cool. But I wouldn't be too hopeful about that. Bethesda, in my opinion, have so much to work on, and change, adding a hardcoe mode is the least of their concerns.

How does it not make sense? Who cares how much fantasy a game is, people still eat and sleep in 99% of fantasy settings. Look at how many people from these boards use survival mods, and it adds so much to immersion.

I only eat/sleep with some of my characters. I don't think it's a big deal.

I'm not sure what you want me to give examples of, Frostfall http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/11163/? and RND http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/26228/? are 2 popular mods and i gave some exaples of how they affect gameplay.

If it's the steam games, i don't play them myself but there's The Forest,Rust, Day Z and 7 days to die that spring to mind, i haven't tried them but they seem pretty popular.
