Neel Help With MLOX

Post » Tue May 17, 2011 7:49 am

I need some help with MLOX. Its giving me grief and I need it for the Morrowind Graphics & Sound Overhaul Mod. I get a wierd error, every time I press the Update Load Order button. (The Morrowind Graphics & Sound Overhaul Mod instructions say to "Click Refresh Load Order", but that doesn't exist... so I'm assuming thats what they're talking about!?)

mlox.exe 0.57 [mlox-base 2010-10-25 11:39:07 (UTC)] (en/cp1252)
Python Version: 2.5
wxPython Version: 2.8.7.1

The people of that mod don't seem to be able to help me, so I'm asking you guys for help. PLEASE help me get this working??

SOB....
Hey admins... why can't I edit my title? I can do that in all the other forums I'm a member of. Its very odd you don't allow that. Typo.

Did you ever ask on the forums? :\

- Open Morrowind Launcher as admin be sure to check all the mods and confirm
- Try to run it as administrator
- Probably better asking in the mlox thread http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1167004-relz-mlox-a-tool-for-anolyzing-and-sorting-your-load-order/

Of course I did. You your self asked me if my OS was in English then never replied back to me when I said it was. Then someone else told me to start over with a fresh morrowind install to get rid of the mods which I already said I deactivated and removed. I knew it wouldn't work but I did it anyway. Tried reinstalling Morrowind, reinstalling the MGSO mod, and of course MLOX did the same thing again. So I came here for help.

Also, its worth mentioning this is a Steam version of the game, and its also the Game of the Year edition.

Why do I need to run anything as an admin? That shouldn't be a problem if I'm in XP... should it? I've never heard of a mod needing me to do that before....

Do you have all the required Python stuff installed? AFAIK it's the same as what you need to run Wrye Mash.

As far as I know, the standalone version (mlox.exe), doesn't need them

can you post the complete path to mlox.py?
[EDIT2]or try reinstalling http://code.google.com/p/mlox/downloads/detail?name=mlox-exe-0.57.7z in a different subfolder (for instance mlox2 instead of mlox) of the Morrowind folder and see what happens.

Also, its located here. E:\Gaming\Games\Steam\SteamApps\common\morrowind\Mlox2

I never noticed this, because most of it was scrolled out of view, but Mlox is displaying this message when I first start up the program:

[REQUIRES]
!!!'Better Clothes_v1.1.esp' Requires:
> 'MISSING(Better Bodies.esp)'
| "Better Clothes" requires version 2.1 or 2.2 of Psychodog Studios' "Better Bodies"
| (Ref: betterclothes.txt)
[NOTE]
> 'Texture Fix - Bloodmoon 1.1.esm'
| "Texture Fix - Bloodmoon" is included in the newer "Bloodmoon Landscape Overhaul":
| However, if you do not want the land sculpting done in the Overhaul, the author recommends you stick with "Texture Fix - Bloodmoon 1.1.esm" which just fixes seams.
[PATCH]
!!'MISSING(Golden Gold Patch v1.0.esp)' for:
'Golden Gold.esp'
| "Golden Gold Patch v1.0.esp" adds the Golden Gold texture to two cursed Daedric coin types which were left out of the original.
| (Ref: "osiris' Golden Gold Patch v1.0 Readme.txt")
[NOTE]
> 'TLM - Ambient Light + Fog Update.esp'
| In order to retain the modified interior light settings of TLM, "TLM - Ambient Light + Fog Update.esp" must load later than any mod that might change a pre-existing interior cell.
current saved to: current_loadorder.out
mlox sorted saved to: mlox_new_loadorder.out

You can ignore those errors.
The patches and mods that mlox says missing are merged into other files, so no problems.

You can't fix it a least not now perhaps later and I can tell why it isn't working, because you're probably using a non-us (english) version of Windows.

mlox.exe 0.57 [mlox-base 2010-10-25 11:39:07 (UTC)] (en/cp1252)Python Version: 2.5wxPython Version: 2.8.7.1Traceback (most recent call last):File "mlox.py", line 1600, in on_updateFile "mlox.py", line 1566, in anolyze_loadorderFile "mlox.py", line 1335, in updateFile "mlox.py", line 1245, in update_mod_timesFile "mlox.py", line 210, in find_pathFile "ntpath.pyo", line 62, in joinWindowsError: [Error 87] The parameter is incorrect

Yes john.moonsugar is well aware of http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1106095-wrye-mash-stand-alone/page__view__findpost__p__16639403, but for now there is nothing you can do about it unless you're thinking about an upgrade of your current OS to Windows7 64-bit and apparently mlox is now working (a least for me). :)

That doesn't sound right... I bought it OEM from Newegg. I don't think they'd be selling non-us english copies of XP.

But if they are, that really pisses me off!!!

Did you ever post the list of mods in your load order? I wonder if a similar error could occur if a mod's file name used a non-English character.

The other question is, did you ever set your Windows code page to something other than the default? If you open a command prompt and enter the command "chcp" what response to you get?

Oh yes they do sell non-us version of Windows, because that's what Microsoft really is it's an US company. FWIW I did the same thing like you did with your XP copy and also had the same problem with this message.

mlox.exe 0.57 [mlox-base 2010-10-25 11:39:07 (UTC)] (en/cp1252)

You can run mlox but you can't use the update button in mlox because of that message. Here is a newer version of http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1167004-relz-mlox-a-tool-for-anolyzing-and-sorting-your-load-order/. :)
