Nehrim-Style Installer

Post » Thu May 19, 2011 2:24 am

Hello,

I am starting a small-scale Total Conversion for a school project and I was wandering how the guys working on Nehrim got their installer. I would love to have and installer and a laucher like theirs. So then people could either play my mod or Oblivion and wouldn't have to worry about conflics or changing Data Files every time. If you don't know, with Nehrim, you run the installer .exe and it creates a new installation directory for all of the Nehrim files. They also had their own Launcher.exe that was different from the Oblivion one and would run Nehrim and not Oblivion.. Does anyone know how I could make something similar?

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks.

well the Nehrim Launcher is somewhat slick and way better than the Oblivion vanilla launcher - you are dead wrong in stating:

First off how does their launcher prevent conflicts (and with what)? Secondly ... what do you mean by changing data files?

While you could likely play either Nehrim or Oblivion if Oblivion was not modded - it would still confuse save game files between the two games. If Oblivion is modded then it will totally mess with the Oblivion install.

The Nehrim folks did not make their conversion at all friendly with the concept of multiple installs and as such quite a few got irked that Nerhim messed their Oblivion game up.
