Nelle Harper Lee - Another Notch for 2016

Post » Sun Feb 21, 2016 3:05 am

We certainly have had a few to talk about already this year, but this one has some affect on me. The author of the great american classic, "To Kill A Mockingbird", passed away today. That one book alone was pretty much my entire 8th grade year in English - my first term paper.

It wasn't her only piece, but one that probably is the most recognized. A talented and iconic writer, we will miss you.

While I never read the book*, the movie with Gregory Peck was done quite well.

Mockingbird is a great book as it encouraged a dialog that needed to be had. Which is probably why it is on so many reading lists for schools.

*Classic literature was never my cup of tea, and the English classes I took focused on Shakespeare, Bronte, Fitzgerald and Parker for authors to study.

I honestly thought she had passed long ago. Still doesn't make it any less sad. I enjoyed Mockingbird and it's movie is one of, if not the best book adaptations I have ever seen.
