Nellis AFB Confirmed

Post » Sun Aug 08, 2010 12:25 pm

Nellis Air Force Base provides advanced combat training for composite strike forces, which includes every type of aircraft in the Air Force inventory. Training is commonly conducted in conjunction with air and grounds units of the Army, Navy, Marine Corps and allied forces from throughout the world. Nellis also conducts operational testing and develops tactics. The base also supports combat search and rescue and remotely piloted aircraft operations worldwide.

So will we be seeing a museum of warplanes made since the 50's throughout the 077's? I hope so. Remember that Vegas wasn't hit by the nukes and seeing how this AFB is on the northwestern tip there's bound to be treasure here. :celebration:

Great Chance it will be in the game. Which Faction controls it? Guessing NCR. I don't expect to find treasure. It is an AFB. Great place to loot for weapons and tech and chances are it has been in the last 200 years.

Maybe a veritable $%#! ton of weapons and armor. That would be pretty nice. It would be really great if they had an armory building that stocked a bunch of Energy Weapons and maybe some Power Armor too. Any military weapons stockpile in Fallout 3 carried pretty much only Combat Armor and Assault Rifles. Considering how the government was really getting into laser weapons by the time the war broke out, there should be an armory that stocks Laser Rifles/Pistols somewhere.

i would find it kinda funny if it was a bunch of tribals moved in and believed the energy weapons they found are "gods instruments to rid the world of the impure" :tops:

It was confirmed by All Roads. It had a page with a map of New Vegas and it had Nells on it.

That reminds me, in fallout 1 when you go to vault 15 in the little info box it says "the shack is about to crumble, this place has been looted since long ago.".
Well, there's an obvious ladder down to the cave which leads to Vault 15 were in the first locker I could find 7 flares and in the second one 2 stimpacks and a first aid kit.
Looted since long ago my ass.

Point is, no matter how long it's been the place will still have a lot of interesting and useful stuff to loot because of fallout logic.

I am sure there will always be something. I would not count flares and stimpacks as "treasure". Someone could have stashed those items there long after looting or they thought the flares bad. My point is people think "Hey a AFB it must have all kinds of energy weapons and PA." All that stuff would have been looted long ago unless it has a great automated defence system like Sierra Army Depot.

Maybe it will be Caesar's Legion's equivalent of McCarran. Then again, it could also be a BoS base or just another dungeon to crawl.

Well seeing as with each game the number of robots increase it wouldn't surprise me. :P

I think some level of scaling would be good. High level enemis should be scaled down just a little in earlier levels and low level enemies should get a little better when you get to higher levels. The way I see it, it should be like in Dragon Age: Origins. Areas were scaled to a certain extent, but there was pretty much a minimum recommended level. Early level enemies got better to. A certain extent, but things like Rats never got past level 2 or 3 because that was reasonable.

Edit: whoops this was supposed to be in the Fixed Environment thread.

I just hope those Robots are the awesome http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Sentry_bot_(Fallout_2)from FO2 or have the heavy weapons turrets in place like the Originals. The Auto Guns in FO3 svck. Have something that fires plasma or 50cal rounds or something that has an insain rate of fire.

Have those crap robots from FO3 defending a town or base is a joke.

Still given how close it is to Vegas I am sure after 200 years even the best defences would fail or run out of ammo or just get over run. Someone must have been smart enough to find a stealth boy given that they are all over (Thanks FO3 ). Sierra Army Depot lasted so long because it's remote and little knew about it. Many never came back.

it would make sense for the NCR to control it, however, i hope not every base in the game (if there are more than one) is neutral or abandoned.

I hope they are not all neutral or abandoned as well. I just find it hard to believe that after 200 years there will be military bases left unlooted. There seems to be alot of bases in the game. Many are under the power of Ceaser's Legion or NCR and they are at war. One NCR base was nuked by Ceasers legion Camp Searchlight. Maybe it will be like the Glow.

my bad, what i meant to say is i hope some of the bases are neutral or abandoned. like maybe one or two, with really great loot. but on second thought, having them all taken over would make the most sense.

btw, styles i like your ideas in the special encounters threads. i was creeping on it for awhile, reading them, but didnt post anything there haha.

Maybe, but it would've been nice if it said "...been looted since long ago, but there's a ladder to the basemant in the middle of the room...".

Chances are its very well defended by robots or the place has been left in ruins and most things are gone... although I think a little secret passage, armory, or vault full of equipment would be nice... in fact let the top be in ruins and let a secret kind of passage to a basemant be left in prestigious condition guarded by robots P=

P.S. *random idea*
I want a robot factory to be in the game where I can customize my own robot companion P=
