Nerdtrek: "Lover's Bonuses"

http://nerdtrek.com/skyrim-answers-bethesda/

"Mike, your question about marriage ended up yielding some fantastic feedback!

There are hundreds of people that you CAN marry, if they want to marry you. They can become your companion. Having a companion offers awesome perks. Your wife can fight by your side, helping you attack or defend. She can carry stuff for you increasing your inventory capacity. She can cook for you once a day increasing your health. There are many “Lovers’ bonuses” available. Possibly the BEST thing: you can delegate tasks and send your followers to do things for you, such as attack, collect food, buy weapons, and more… Unfortunately for you there are no “brown-chicken brown-cow” relationship animations."

FRICK... what are these 'lover's bonuses?'

breaking it down:

- There are hunderds of people that you CAN marry (if they want to marry you)
- They become your companion
- Having a companion offers AWESOME PERKS
- Your spouse can fight by your side, helping you attack and/or defend
- Your spouse can carry stuff for you, increasing your inventory capacity
- Your spouse can cook for you once a day, increasing your health
- There are many "lover's bonuses" available.
- you can delegate tasks and send companions to do things for you, such as:
+attack
+collect food
+buy weapons
+and more...
- No sixual animations

This should probably be in the relationships thread. But it's getting as much action as Charlie Sheen's career and I find these new revelations too flipping great to become dusty

Not likely- being that Fable and TES are both under the same genre, they share MANY likenesses.

But the difference is: Bethesda has been able to add a certain quality to their aspects...

I believe this will be the same for relationships.

Out of curiosity, can't the Fallout: New Vegas companions do all that, too? (I don't play FO:NV, obviously.)

they can do basic things.

Stay close
Fall back
come with me
stay here
stuff like that...

Nothing like gathering food, weapons, etc...

Though New Vegas companions also gave perks to the PC.

Nothing like making a meal for you or anything.

I don't think this is out of the question. It says you can bring them with you, which I take as saying you can also leave them places, such as in your home. Then you're free to adventure, just you and your pooch!

I'm not sure i like the seemingly fable approach to marrying anyone, it seems like the depth will be pretty generic.

A little strange but mostly awesome. I would think though that if we weren't given this information, our gut reaction would be to seek a spouse that would stay safe at home, no? So now I wonder just what we can safely do with a significant other that is not good at fighting...

again with the fable talk... I guess I'm not seeing it. Granted- this game isn't dedicated to just getting married, so it will be limited. I can't say one way or the other, but I can say this- Bethesda has the ability to turn a cliche like sword fighting and magic (just like Fable has) into something completely unique and fitting to the Elder Scrolls universe.

i like this better than Fable's approach actually. In Fable you flirt, get married, have six, then have kids...and that's how "deep" families get in Fable. With Skyrim, your wife will actually do stuff besides being a walking six doll. If Fable: The Journey doesn't kill the Fable Series, Skyrim will.

Dont get me wrong, I love the Fable Series (its the first series i ever nerded hardcoe on), but Peter M is killing it with his over hyping and lying. Fable 3 is an example of this.

I'd love to come home after a few days of adventuring. My spouse cooking up something healthy inside, my toothy compadre relaxing in the yard.

I really hope the game can paint this picture for me. :)

Of course nothing ever lasts forever... Pictures become washed out and eventually fade.

Like when I get infected with Porphyric Hemophilia after a few days in the void. I change of course, unbeknownst to my dear lover and loyal friend. And then in the cloak of night, while the beast slumbers in my neglected Nirnroot garden and the soft, succulent, morsel dreams of children and moving to the Capital, I strike. Nothing against them, in fact I loved them. Even as I drained them in their sleep--never letting them fully wake--I thought only of how I couldn't let them live without me. Peaceful. Humane. As humane as an inhuman can be, in fact. And I'll never forget them. Their blood will be with me forever and ever and ever...

PS. I wonder if we can turn our spouse into a vampire.

This is way better than Fable because it fits TES better. And since it's so unobtrusive and optional maybe the haters will feel better now?

Right? :unsure2:

I'm definitely getting me a busty, brunette tavern wench to follow me around, carry my stuff and cook for me.

If I could transfer my soul into Skyrim so I could live my life in the game instead of the real world I dare say I'd give it serious thought.
