Nerevarine - as member of The Tribunal Temple?

Post » Fri Sep 21, 2012 8:47 am

Hey guys.

I′ve played through Morrowind two times five or six years ago, but never managed to join the Almsivi Temple - this shall change now.

However, how does the Temple-NPCs react if the new Member XY is becoming the Nerevarine? Does anyone in the game have problems with that?

How can the Temple/how can you justifiy to be part of the Temple as Nerevarine, Roleplaying-wise?

You can't join or get quests after you get the moon and star ring until you finish the MQ. RP wise you can guide the temple to a new era, I guess.

I recall that until you finish the third trial, you can't get any new quests from them.

Uh, do I really have to finish the mainquest, or is it enough to speak with Vivec and agree to his plans?

I am afraid you don′t know what happens if you get the Moon and Star Ring after you′ve become patriarch of the temple? Is there some "Uh..wait, was? Da Boss is the Nerevarine?!?" O [censored]..." Dialogue or something? :(

Thx for your help so far!

I guess your suggestion for the RP-problems makes sense. If you are the Nerevarine, you may see your work in the Temple as an opportunity to prepare the Temple for the End of the Almsivi, as Vivec already foresees the end.

I think they're just really angry at you until you finish the main quest. I've been a member of the temple and then did the Nerevarine business but I was never Patriarch at that point. So I don't know if they react differently to a new member or the patriarch when it comes to the Nerevarine stuff. Probably not.

According to the UESP, that's enough. I never noticed, I guess, because at that point I just want to get the MQ over with. :)

Thx for your help guys.

Glad to see people are still interested in the game.

I have some more questions, if you don′t mind?

1. Is there any mod that allows you to use Ordinator Armor as Temple Member without getting the stupid (and illogical) "THE FU.... I KILL YOU!!!" ordinator-attacks? I′ve come up with a mod two years ago, when I was about to start the game again, and itdidnt work for me.

2. What skills/"self designed classes" would you recommend for a temple-playthrough?
I′d like to make a sort of Ordinator with Medium Armor (ofcourse...), Blunt, Destruction, Restoration and Speechcraft as favored skills, with at least mysticism and blocking in the mix.

not sure about the mod, but you can wear ordinator armor as long as you don't actually talk to them and really there's not much you need to speak to them about.

when designing your class make sure that you focus on the temple's favoured skills and actually use them or you'll find it a pain to advance. Alchemy Blunt Weapon Conjuration Mysticism Restoration and Unarmored are favoured by the temple so you should be fine having blunt and restoration as major skills and maybe mysticism as a minor.

I made the mistake of having a temple character originally built for the mages guild and all temple favoured skills were minor or misc. ended up having to train the heck out of mysticism 40 points over the course of a few levels to advance from Curate to Master and it felt a little cheap...

Yeah, it's nice to be able to level without excessive training. Alchemy is pretty easy to level as a major and it works for both Temple and Mages. Also note that you only need to get it to 80 to make the top rank (both Temple and Mages) because of the way the rank is granted.

Being a patriarch in the Temple will actually help you at one point during the main quest.

Heck, I didn't even realize there was a problem with the armor for a long time, because I never talk to Ordinators. My first character found Ordinator armor on a dead Ordinator up north. She played an entire game in that armor, walked all over Vivec, nobody said a word to her about it.

Later on, people began to report that Ordinators attacked them when they wore the armor. I was positive it had to be a glitch, lol. It took months before we finally pinpointed the cause of the attacks.

I tend to RP so that I polay all the way through the temple...then once my character find he is Nerevarine he 'leaves' the temple by expelling himself.....as the temple worships the tribunal....and it makes no sense if the Nerevarine is part of that.

Yeah, even if you manage to somehow explain to yourself why you, as Nerevarine, stay in the Temple (see Post #2 and 4), the feeling it is somehow...wrong...stays, at least for me the more I think about it.

Actually, I like the Temple cause it is a "traditional" Dunmer "Guild" that doesnt like the Empire all that much. House Hlaalu for example is quite pro-imperialistic, and Rhedoran is, to say the truth, really boring... (And the Telvanni are just crazy magic-nerds who don′t care for others).
I guess it is not really possible to play a tradtionalist dunmer Nerevarine if you have RP-Problems with the Temple and played House Rhedoran far too often. :(

In regards to the OP, my current playthrough i am a devout pilgrim and made my way to being Patriarch of the Temple. I hadn't touched the main quest to this point but had heard rumors of Dagot Ur's growing strength. I was also Arch Mage and had found my way to visitng Yagrum Bagarn to translate some ancient texts while working for the mages guild.

I decided to role play my own twist to the story and after becoming Patriarch I was summoned by Vivec to have a chat. During this chat he revealed the whole situation and where the almsivi power really comes from. Needless to say she was shocked to find out that everything she devoted her life to in the temple was based on treachery and lies. Rather than play along with the charade as Saryoni had, Mostafar took up her spear and struck Vivec and a lengthy battle ensued taking both combatants to their limit. In the end vivec fell and all that remained was a unique dwemer artifact and the plans to defeat Dagoth Ur. Remembering my earlier interactions with the last dwemer i took the artifact to him and he quickly identified it as wraithguard and sent me on a quest to activate it... the rest is history :)

that's how i managed to get around the conflict of interest of the temple and main quest.
