Nerevarine and CoC are different. They are mortals blessed with the ability to choose their own path

No, no, I think you might be onto something; I'm starting to see how stuff might fit together, starting to see connections, starting to see-[NUMINIT]

Do any of you use the same character from Morrowind in Oblivion as well? I certainly do. And in such a case, the whole Akavir story doesn't really apply since the Nerevarine then becomes the CoC.

Ah, but that's the beauty of the "journey to Akavir" story: who's to say that the story's true? After all, it is referenced in game as a rumor. Did your Nerevarine really go to Akavir? Or did your Nerevarine purposely spread the rumor of departing to Akavir, only to fulfill hidden agendas? There are limitless possibilities. In example, my Nerevarine was killed on the beach outside the self-made ruins of Castle Ebonheart, by a fresh Legion deployment to Vvardenfell dispatched by the Emperor after my Nerevarine had grown too powerful to control and leaning on Helseth to hire assassins had proven futile. The "journey to Akavir" story was a convenient public cover story to give a rational province-wide explanation to the disappearance, while individual loose ends were all tied up separately.

As for the Eternal Champion of Arena, he/she simply vanishes without a trace. Even in books, they are simply mentioned as the Eternal Champion, and no supplementary detail is provided to give them any form of epilogue.

That?s a very nice posibility, very plausible.

I for one, do not believe any of the heroes have any freedom of choice. They dont make their own path. The heroe just is because he is. If they dont do anything, then history doesnt move forward, hence they must fulfill their destiny. Once they do it, they have no purpose in the world so they must vanish, kinda like the prophet topic a few days ago.

Any of the endings for the Nerevarine we can come up with can be true, its a personal choice because only one thing is certain: they wont feature in any TES installment ever again.

nope.

But my Nerevarine killed the Eternal Champion in combat when the Eternal Champion stumbled upon the Incarnate's research facility.

It's very funny, because the hero of Daggerfall was sent on a very secretive mission (and died in some outcomes of the Dragon Break), the hero of Oblivion was pretty much eclipsed by Martin and the fact Oblivion had a boring storyline to begin with. The Eternal Champion, however, was praised by Uriel Septim himself and was to, "take thy rightful place at [the Emperor's] side". Surely his/her journey, spanning a decade and saving the whole of Tamriel from Jagar Tharn's rule would be one of the greatest achievements of all the heroes, at least from the Empire's perspective. I always saw him/her as the most revered and celebrated, the one who should have statues all over the place. So it is kind of odd how (s)he is rarely referenced, but I assume yet again it's just so that a "canon" incarnation of their character doesn't conflict with yours.

Then again, the Arena manual refers to the hero as "Talin" - though I've been told that this was just an example to encourage the player to embody their own character with their own background.

I believe, among the past Champions of Cyrodiil Ocato refers to, the Eternal Champion is one of them.

No. While hard prison time may drop your skills, things like the Corprus and the associated immunity to all diseases are much harder to forget without breaking any pretension of believability.

Was that because the Eternal Champion was from the IRS and the Nerevarine hadn't paid his property taxes in over a year and was about to get evicted?

Nerevarine going to Akavir might become premise for some news and information on Akavir, its races, culture and what not. We don't have much now, but in the future there could be reports or rumours of Nerevarine's findings there
