v0.18 nerfed solo bosses.

Post » Tue Mar 04, 2014 9:46 pm

I was playing as a tank and had to return to Dosha nearly 5 levels after the quest. I still had quite a hard time. With cool downs on potions, and very high stamina costs on rolling, i'm glad they nerfed bosses for solo players. And as much as this is an MMO, this is stil and elderscrolls game, and you should always feel compelled to do anything you want.

You may be, but if they implemented dungeons that rewarded solo play more than group play, ESO forums everywhere would literally catch on fire somehow.

Since I haven't addressed it directly, I've zero desire to see any bosses nerfed. Heck, make them much tougher - makes for good gameplay.

My only issue is forced solo-play instancing, and I've offered proposed fixes above that should alleviate concerns by those who support the current iteration.

Well hopefully they will have a last beta and it will be on the .18 build and we can all test it (if we're invited) and see how the changes affect things.

Can't please everyone, but strongly believe no instance in TES should be forced into solo-play.

The teamwork dynamic is simply too important to me.

ZOS should just give the players a choice between going into the dungeon solo or with a group. It pleases everyone.

Maybe they can implement a follower option where an NPC is a follower and can help out. So now your have (sort of) group play and no changes to chest or reward loot.

See where you're going with this, but the follower NPC is an unknown, vice an established teammate with known tactics, techniqeus and procedures.

Think increasing the specs of the boss/mobs within such dungeons would answer the mail. I'm even okay with limiting the size of the group, since that would be logical.

Actually, Gutsripper and Dosha was easy for me on lvl 12. They were a nightmare on lvl 8 tho.

wow that dosha fight was the crowning moment for me over the weekend......... admittedly I died 2 times but once you figure out the trick to the fight is it even possible to die lol. I only made it to level 10 dunno what level the quest was but was rather easy and enjoyable.

devs should start to have chat bubbles over mobs head that either say kill our dodge. and if it's going to require you to dodge time should stop let you get out of the way to a specific spot(highlighted a pretty color of course and obviously a chat bubble over the area saying "move here") then go back to real time.

this should be the way every "boss fight" in game should be. (que.sarcasm)

oh forgot to add i used most all of my points into crafting btw which it was my main focus this beta.

Dosha is a sneak peek into the daedric harvester mobs you'll see a lot later on in the game, they're pretty strong creatures (strongest in the game imho) and can mess you up pretty fast if you slip up at all.

Clannfear are a simple mob, which is why I don't understand people having trouble with Gutsripper. You can literally play bullfighter with them and let them run at you and soon as they stop you just step aside. They pause for all of their attacks. Try it out next time you get a chance to play.

I thought the bosses were just fine. I had trouble with Doshia, so I came back 3 levels later and tried again. It didn't feel like unfair difficulty, I was just unprepared at that moment. It was okay, victory tastes better if you have to work for it.

Instead of nerfing bosses, they should have let us group for them.

I don't quite understand why people play an MMO if they're so dead set on never working with other people that they prefer NPC henchmen. But to each their own, I guess.

I hope they didn't get nerfed too much. Some challenge is needed to keep the game interesting.

I liked them how they were. Gave me something to figure out and a challenge to overcome. What's the fun in walking in, smacking the "boss" and walking out 2 mins later?

Well yea if you're level 12, you outlevel those bosses by 4 levels or so. LOL. =)

Gutripper was surprisingly easy the first time I encountered him. But I got the hang of the dodge thing fairly quick. for melee he was still easy, as long as you paid attention to his skills and kite him around pillars, then we he charged, just move and he is disoriented after the charge, hit him with a big attack.

I really hope they don't dumb down the game anymore for complainers. This is one of the few games to come out in the past 5+ years that actually has challenging small group/solo content in PVE as you level, and everything isn't handed to you. Let's hope this isn't a trend of PVE nerfs for the masses.

True, it's not easy to come up with a sound strategy with an NPC follower. I know I had my fair share of moments in Skyrim where I got frustrated by an NPC follower charging in before I was ready. Still, a nice option to have just in case. However yes, maybe limit the number to 2 (including your player) would be good as well so that it's not too easy to defeat a now overwhelmed boss.

It makes sense since they outlevel you on previous levels. This is how the game mechanics should be. You should not request nerfing some foes just because you can not kill them on earlier levels.

I know. I killed Gutsripper at level 7 and Dosha at 8 but I had to pull my head out of my ass for a few deaths first. =)

On the Skyrim story, my chosen character was usually a nightblade. I'd be sneaking up on a target, only to hear my foolish NPC yell and charge. :shakehead:

Don't worry, if they did nerf these low level bosses for the guild lines, they upped the VR content and later game difficulty by 100%.

VR10's getting destroyed by level 39 world bosses. It ain't right I tell you.

i believe there has been a strong misunderstanding about the reaction of the developers in responce to people requesting things.

the developers are going to create, delete, change, alter, ect ect according to thier own inteligence and a meeting of the minds so to speak. just because you might see 1 comment requesting a change in eso or even 10,000 requests for a change in eso does not mean the developers heard them and immediatly decide to listen and do whats being asked.

the developers of eso are inteligent people. they know what thier doing. if you see changes or alterations in eso it is not due to the publics responce. the publics responce plays a part in eso decision making, but it is not the main factor in what happens in eso.

Yeah :) I have learned that a glasscannon build would not work in ESO with a bad experience, too.
