Nether lich?

Post » Mon Aug 02, 2010 3:06 pm

Hello all. I was just curious if there was a way to make it so I can some how play as a nether lich?

Whether it be enabling them to be a playable race and creating one, or there being some sort of spell that lets me become one?

Now before you start to tell me that there are mods out there that let you do that, let me clarify what I mean.

I do not mean a skeleton with a homo blue flame on his helmet that looks totally gay. I mean the in game bad ass nether lich that looks cool. http://img21.imageshack.us/i/obllich.gif/

I would appreciate any assistance.

Thank you for the quick response.

I already have that though. I just ask if you can enable them as a playable race because they do indeed have armor, and they also can summon and cast (identical to the dremora)

And there is a mod out that allows the playing of dremora as a race.

So I summoned a dremora lord and used the console command

Getisplayablerace

and noticed that somebody indeed enabled them as a race, and did not just use dremora body parts in some sort of software to form them.

So if I'm correct, you should theoretically be able to enable nether liches as a playable race.

If there is no current mod out, could somebody tell me what to do to enable them myself?

I downloaded the "TES construction set"

but when I try to load the oblivion.esm It tells me that the .esm is too big for the .exe and fails loading.

Wait, but dremora lords are actual NPC races, not creatures. So all you have to do to make them playable is find their race in the construction set and select "playable". A nether lich is a type of creature. Although I think recently there were some playable creature races put out. Like minotaurs or something like that. So I suppose its possible.

I am just finding this out now.

I patched my TES Construction Set and I'm trying to find a way to make a creature a npc.

However, I am thus far unsuccessful in this search.

If you find out anything that could help me, please tell me.

I don't know much about the construction set other than the usual basic knowledge. Making a nether lich as a playable race would go much further than the construction set though, I'm sure there would be a lot of more complicated things that would need to be done.

I would edit the title of this thread to say [REQ] at the beginning for "request" so that a more talented modder can come in and perhaps give you a hand.

According to the website, I apparently don't have the permission to perform that action. lol

And I think you're right.

I've been trying to add the lich race to the playable races but would need to design all of the body parts for them.

I don't even know where to access the .nif files.

They just take me to my oblivion data folder.

The .nif files for things from the vanilla game are inside .bsa files in your data folder. I'm not a modeller or anything like that so I can't really help you there. You could ask over in the construction set forum for more help on all this.

And oh, my bad, you'll have to ask a moderator to do it for you.

Alright. I'll do that.

Thank you for your help. I appreciate it very much.

If I have any future questions, could I PM you for your advice perhaps?

I'll try that one.

I've tried almost every tesnexus lich mod on there.

Even the ones in German. But I'll let you know how that one works.

I have tried it out.

I must admit, much better then the one that gives you a blue flame helmet.

What I dislike about this mod, is that you can't change your robe, or your feet.

This mod would have been phenomenal if it wasn't for that.

While you and I are on the subject, do you know where I can download the mod that makes you walk like the lich? (not the lich animation where you hold the staff and you float, I have that already)

But how the lich walks when out of battle?

I'm the leader of this mod: http://tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=16976 which adds a landmass, but also playable liches (it's not a race though, you need to do a quest to become one.) It's roughly the same lich mechanic from Modular Oblivion Enhanced.

It doesn't make you look exactly like the vanilla Nether Lich though. In fact our own version of Nether Lich looks diiferent and wears a black robe, it's the Spectral Lich you want to choose when playing this mod to look more like the vanilla Oblivion Lich. But yeah it's not identical, nether liches in the game count as "creatures", you can't make them a playable race with the Construction Set, their form/animation/skeleton isn't even perfectly humanoid like Dremora's or Argonian for example.

Also a note to others, simply clicking "playable" on Dremoras is not enough to make Dremoras playable. You'll need additonal tweaking to enable player Dremora sounds + fully functional Boethia quest + Valen Dreth speech so you can leave prison.
