Never Another Dollar

Post » Wed Dec 14, 2011 4:31 pm

Today I finally ran into the problem other PS3 users were having and my game has become unplayable. I was hoping...just maybe...that people were crazy and this wouldn't happen. RIDICULOUS.

Bethesda, I want my damn money back. You've pulled a fast one on all of us PS3 users and don't seem to be making progress into a fix.

I'm quite disappointed, and you'll never get another dollar from me.

It's a PS3 hardware issue, not a software issue.

Still, if they release the game on PS3 they need to make it compatible to the hardware.

I [censored]in hate, that they optimized so much stuff for the consoles, since I am a PC gamer and the PC is the only real platform to play Bethesda games on, but that is why I get how pissed console players are. ;)

That's ridiculous and you know it. Even if it's related to a PS3 hardware issue, the fact remains that Bethesda KNOWINGLY released a broken game to make a quick buck. If your code doesn't work on the system, then its YOUR responsibility to fix it or don't release the game. I'd rather they had been honest...but that's too much to expect from companies these days. This is criminal.

The Total War and TES series are the last bastions of PC gaming (even though we're stuck with a console UI in Skyrim). It's so rare to see console players in the majority as game haters. It seems like I should be more sympathetic, but really I'm just glad it's finally not me getting the shaft!

Everything I have read from people familiar with the PS3 system says that it is a game flaw which didn't take fully into account how the PS3 operates. The PS3 works fine for other games, how can it be a hardware issue that effects only one game, that is silly. Though I play Skyrim on the PC I do own a PS3 and have never had any trouble with games.

You knew the issues existed. It has existed for some time. This is the slowest fast one I have ever seen.

And have you been to Bethesda personally to see the progress they are making on patches? If so can you tell me if they are working on any vampire or giant related DLC?

I'm quite disappointed, and you'll never get another dollar from me.

That's incorrect, silly and impossible. The hardware came first and was a single-configuration, non-evolutionary platform for the developers.

1) Actually, no, I didn't know the issues existed. I bought the game the day it came out. I don't quite have the time in my life to get to 60 hours of playtime in a week or so. So I'm just coming across the issues now.

2) Much has been made of the likelihood that this is an UN-PATCHABLE problem. They built the game wrong from Day 1.

3) Yes, I swear. I just gave them $60 for a game that I can't play anymore. We're done.

Apparently due to how PS3 is built, when save games hit a certain size, the FPS drops and the game becomes uplayable.

My save files are enormous too. Except my platform of choice doesn't choke on them :hubbahubba:

Bethesda chose to release a broken game. I think it's reasonable to expect that if I pay $60 for a game, it will work. Bought that game at launch before all these reports started coming out. What else would you like me to have done? They fleeced us.

If you buy it for a secondary platform, don't be surprised to get a secondary product.

Right.

Okay then, here is the solution: Nobody gives refunds on digital purchases, if you did that - well, tough luck. If you bought a retail version - ask refund from a shop you bought it from.

On the PS3 version of skyrim...once you've been playing a single game around 50 hours or so, the save file gets too large and the game just starts laggin all over the place.

That's not a lag in your video playback...thats lag in the game.

No stores give refunds on open videogames. You know better than that. At best, you get another copy. And what good does that do?

Whilst I completely agree that the PS3 issue is inexcusable, and I feel for those suffering under it, I can't help but think most people issuing the threat of never buying another Bethesda game will probably cave in under the next games hype and buy it.

This is a software issue. PC gamers could have some claim to a hardware driver conflict, but the PS3 is, as has been said, a static unevolving platform.
Hopefully they can fix the problem for PS3 versions of the game. I doubt it is unfixable, but it might not be quick in coming (not what people want to hear but thats the likelihood).
