.... or not, Why can't you create simple potions with a mortar and pestle on the move. Why does it have to be at a station concreted to the ground?

That I agree with, but being able to make a potion while in combat is a little unrealistic. But maybe simple potions will be able to be made with a mortal/pestle. But I like the idea of hunting and fishing then cooking the meat to provide certain health/stamina benefits. I can't wait for this game.

-No more speechcraft mini-game like OB. Speechcraft will now be more like Fallout 3

-(Previously confirmed) You can only view your character in the game world, not in the menu

1. Never played Fallout 3 so how would that work?

2. Does not seem to be a "standard" inventory screen, something i will definately miss!

Not that psyched about jobs anymore now that they're all stations...
Same goes for sabotaging a mill ("click on sabotage button"). Not very psyched :(

Oh well, it's better than if there wouldn't be such things at all.

the size thing is still confusing me
i think interviewers and testers mean the GAME WORLD is smaller, but he just says things like 'content wise skyrim is much bigger'
that really cool, since content is really important, more so than actual size
but i want the size question answered
as in someone asks "is skyrim, meaning the actual game world, physically bigger than oblivion?" with petes answer a simple 'yes' or 'no' without using the whole more-content thing in his response
has this been answered anywhere?

Only info I've found is this: http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1231292-possibly-new-info-that-is-old/page__p__18608682#entry18608682
A japense article that interviews Bethesda said the game was 20% bigger because of different heights. Sounds reasonable.

Though all of his answers are not new, some of this information hasn't been previously confirmed:

--After picking flowers, they are removed visually from the plant

-

There was a mod that did this for Oblivion. I think it's cool that they actually take some of the best mods for Oblivion and incorporate them in Skyrim.

Yeah it is better than not having it, but it is a fairly closed world design for an open world game.

Fallout New Vegas also did that if you picked up any ingredients. A cool feature that I'm glad is in Skyrim.

Here we go what? It's pretty stupid. They didn't even put a toggle for it and there's no good reason not to. Anyone who ever thought this was a good idea (along with that third-person exclusive horse-riding) should be fired and forced to play through Arena, Daggerfall, Morrowind, and Oblivion before even being considered for rehiring, in my opinion.

They probably didn't put it in because it would not look right to perform these finishing moves in 1st person and it was too integral to just turn them off completely.

If their is no more speech craft how can you gain trust in the game? Could this be confirming that their will be or will not be emperor's voice in the game?

Yes, and also in a video interview, Todd Howard stated that 'Skyrim is about the same size as Oblivion, but has significantly more content.' And while playing the demo at QuakeCon he said 'to call Skyrim's world big would be a huge understatement.' So don't worry, the game will be massive and FEEL even more massive due to the amount of content and inclusion of features that ad more depth.

I'm impressed by how much they've managed to fit into Skyrim, to be honest. We're getting a lot of the big things that people wanted like better bows, a more in depth magic system (although we lost spellmaking, magic has still become more nuanced), and so on, but we're also getting the "little" things like an economy that we can see in action, jobs, ways to RP directly with the world, and so on.

Some of it is rudimentary, like sabotaging mills (as hlvr said), but at least it's in the game and is something that Bethesda can build upon.

I'm quite excited about the one-handed decapitation perk. As others have said though, it makes me wonder what 2-handed weapons will be able to do, perk-wise. We'll see.

He simply confirmed that there is no speech craft mini game and that now it will work similarly to FO3. I don't think it will be an exact copy. I'm sure they implemented it in a way that makes sense for Skyrim and the type of game it is.

-Alchemy must be done at an alchemy lab or 'station' and can no longer be done on the fly while out in the game world like in Oblivion (Much more realistic if you ask me.)
(Not as practical but makes sense. I believe this makes the game a better one.

-(Previously confirmed) You can only view your character in the game world, not in the menu
(svcks. It was cool, why remove it?!)

-(Previously confirmed) The random third person finishing moves can not be turned off
(svcks really hard... I wonder how they decide stuff like this is good. Design by committee maybe.)

I'm happy with everything but one of those changes (forced finishing moves) but the good far outweighs the bad. I'm not a fan of dismemberment at all (in fact i really hate it) but as long as it's not forced i'm fine with it being in the game. I do hope that it's not a perk i'll be forced to get in order to progress, now that would svck..

We can turn off the compas is the best news i've heard all month about skyrim!

Do you have a source though? I would hate to get my hopes up over nothing. x.x

Wasn't there a %chance of successfully pulling off the dialog option? Or am I thinking of something else?

Yes that is the Fallout Style. Its way better, all of these things are good news.

Hmm.. so no more mortar and pestle, retort and other alchemy gear to be found? Or will we still have to find better equipment along the way... upgrade our lab?

Sure. His exact words: 'Don't recall who asked, but you can play with the HUD opacity so that you don't see your compass, crosshair, or bars, if you want.'

And here is a http://twitter.com/#!/DCDeacon to his twitter feed. It's the 2nd tweet down (as of right now) so get those hopes up. :-)

As to what? The worthless speech wheel we had in Oblivion. It gives more options than ever before.
