New Beth podcast!

And nothing on Skyrim? Did they at least tease that the next podcast will be focused on Skyrim? Anything?

The podcast is really interesting. Who cares if they talk about Skyrim or not, just listen to it.

Todd is talking about when Oblivion was first released, gamespot did a 12 hour marathon of Oblivion the hour it was released and live streamed it.
Anyone got a link to this video, or even a part of it? I'd really like to see it.

I love how websites dedicate time and podcasts to a game that is leagues better than any other game released.

Just finished it. Thanks for the heads up :)
I liked that they were talking about making the AI in Skyrim believable as a top priority. Sounds good to my ears :)

What? This is a podcast done by Beth. Not a third party.

Another interesting tidbit i caught. Todd is the one who decides whats in the collectors edition, and he likes stuff that appear to be from the actual world (septims, Pocket guide book, bobblehead etc...).

Just the sort of thing i wanted for Skyrim.

EDIT: He also mentioned he has a purse full of septims in his office that make that classic gold coiny sound when you move it. I want....

Yeah, very nice to hear them brag about the unused radiant AI of Oblivion again. :P

To be fair they implemented most of what they said they would. Most everything else was -hype.-

Pete Hines in a podcast found in the same selection as this one goes over it and how technical limitations didn't allow them to put everything from the demo.

And the backlash is why we have scarcer details this time around(Great job guys.)

And the issues are believable because even in FO3 and New vegas thing like everything having a shadow or even ladders couldn't be implemented using Beth's modified gamebryo engine.

Then it also suffered from being their first fully voiced game. The othe issues stem from Howard wanting a classic fantasy feel again. Most people on here are Morrowind fans, not "Elder Scrolls" fans. Ie. Basically like a good portion of the Fallout 3 fans and have the same cons.

I'm sure this time around the ai is better though. You want attrocious AI? Check out Two Worlds II.

Also applausable that some of ES's staples are actually from Wasteland(Things like improving something by using/doing it. Not done in the spiritual successor: Fallout 1 and now the Series.)

They cut the arenas from every city just to save 800 lines for a 'room on disk' issue with dialogue? Wow thats a sledgehammer to crack an egg solution lol

Meh. With an open ended game such as Oblivion I don't think splitting it up to multiple disks would work very well. Even though it kind of svcks we never got to experience those arenas, I think it worked out ok in the end, we still got the arena in the Imperial city after all :P

Anyway, I'm not really a fan of "ooh fully voiced dialogue!" for this very reason. Call me old fashioned, but I'll gladly read text after text for all the NPCs and conversations if it means leaving out the data hog that is voiced dialogue :P

A very good podcast. Introduces you to the team better than any before it. Looking forward to the 10th anniversary of Morrowind podcast in a year  .

Unfortunately, Bethesda has this thing called competition, so they can't have voiceless NPCs anymore.

I agree with you, but how many first person, open world RPGs are there?

It doesn't stop people from comparing to other games of different genres.
