New bethesda patch disables .esp mods?!?

Post » Fri Dec 11, 2015 1:22 pm

BETHESDA WHY DID YOU DO THIS TO ME!!!!! TO THE MODDING COMMUNITY!!!

It's true! .esp mods don't work anymore with the new bethesda fallout 4 patch. Everytime you start up the game, all .esp mods are disabled.

Eloi! Eloi! Lama sabachthani!

*seriously* Why would bethesda disable .esp mods? What was the reasoning behind this? Piss off every single modder/person who uses mods?

There is a work around.
1: Activate Fallout 4 from your desktop icon first to bring up the launcher window.
2: Then activate your mod manager. You should see all your mods deselected. Select the mods you want to load up.
3: Then hit the play button in the fallout launcher window, not the mod manager. Your game should start up running all your selected mods.

Now there's a reference many won't get.

As for the topic at hand, I dunno nuthing. Maybe pre-GECK modding is a bit risky business.

Would you rather have no patches?

The creation kit isn't even out yet. When it is the vast majority of peoples modded saves may be corrupted.

Just check the plugins.txt in users/local/roaming/fallout4

Because patches have bugs, too. (Fallout 3, patch..... 1.4? 1.5? screwed up mods beyond belief. It happens.)

Anyway, here's the main thread (made out of several other combined ones) on the topic:

People aren't suppose to be modding yet, the modding community is doing more harm then good and bethesda is trying to stop that.

They pushed the "Beta" "launcher" to the release channel, likely just something they overlooked.

Plugins aren't officially supported. The CK hasn't been released.

It's still possible to use plugins, just not easily, which is good, since it means there might be fewer inexperienced and ignorant users messing up their savegames with mods made using TESVSnip.
