[REQ] New body mod

I know that this is something for the future versions of OpenMW - but I have been wanting a new body for Morrowind for a long time.

Preferably, a body mod which is based on the proportions of Oblivion HGEC/Robert's Female and/or Skyrim CBBE body/UNP. There are loads of good clothing mods for these two games, made from scratch from very talented 3D artists. However, porting body mods for BB always has very imperfect conversions. And shirt conversions do not work for some reason.

Also, I would like the new body to be compatible with vanilla and BB clothing as well.

How feasible will this be, I wonder?

Well, variety is good I suppose so I'll appreciate any well executed new body mod, but I myself actually play with vanilla bodies, believe it or not. :) Oh I like BB just fine, but what I cannot tolerate is the horrid clipping with just about everything that's always in my face, you know. So I'll be more than happy with an updated version of BB with a mere texture update, but it has to deal with this kind of stuff. Oh and the disjointed body parts in the paperdoll... Gods, give me strength, lol. :) Now that we're talking 'bout it, I remember seeing some sort of better armor mod awhile ago here. I never really paid much attention to its development and I'm now wondering if it clips with BB and BC a lot or not?

A new body mod should be an option with OpenMW getting closer to 1.0. However, for now there isn`t much that can be done (with vanilla Morrowind) due to skeleton issues. If you had a look at it, you`d notice its very weirdly proportioned (super long legs and arms compared to the torso), so we have to wait for a new skeleton. Which brings us to 2 other things - animation (they`d have to be redone) and clothing/armo(u)rs (same thing).

So...it would take a lot of work to get it all done. Seriously, A LOT of work. Months. But for now, all we can do is wait for OpenMW and someone to get interested into solving this issue.

That really won't be feasible by default.

But modified BB meshes could be made to fit the new body.

I'm definitely hoping that we get a new skeleton when OpenMW comes around. But no one's stepped up to the plate yet from what I'm aware of. As MacKom stated, it's a big undertaking, but something that just needs to be taken one step at a time. Redoing vanilla clothing and armor is secondary to just getting the skeleton working and animated.

One other problem is that a lot of BB clothing is painted on the body - so I can't just extract the clothing mesh and delete everything else like I can with HGEC conversions.

I would want to convert Qarl's Gothic Attire once the new body is done as a lot of his stuff don't have replacements.
