New Brink stuff

Post » Mon Feb 14, 2011 3:11 am

Guns are also unlocked in this fashion, though add-ons for the guns are not. Instead, you’ll have to take on various missions to unlock, say, specific barrel rifling or drum mags or whatever. The missions offer three tiers of difficulty, with the first two tiers offering unlockable items and the third being exclusively for bragging rights.

So the challenge mode won't make do the impossible for guns and add ons. Good for the casual gamer.

In an era where a lot of shooters try to shoehorn players into one or two preset control configurations, “Brink’s” controls are completely customizable. Splash Damage has included six preset schemes that correspond to what players of a lot of popular shooters are used to. Each has a clever name that’s easy to figure out what game it’s referring to, such as “Duty Calls,” “Green Marine Chief,” “Zone of Killing,” “Field of Battle,” “Oh My Gears” and “Zombie Killer.”

I lol'd

Should be The Duty Calls, The Green Marine Chief, The Zone of Killing, The Field of Battle, ... dunno ... and The Zombie Killer.

Funny nonetheless.

I guess you won't have unlocked many archetypes after finishing the campaign, then.

I actually remember hearing that by the time you finish the campaign(s), you will have all the character customization options unlocked.

True. But the way I understood it is that the unlockables from challenges are standalone items that don't belong to archetypes, like the Sloani mask or Grin mask.

Anyways.. Could anyone tell me why there hasn't been any new information about BRINK? I mean, it's like they seriously are TRYING to keep us in the dark :l I've read a few of the previews, and watched some GDC interviews, all I read and heard was the same stuff we've already seen or heard before, I mean, come on, Bethesda and Splash Damage, feed your dogs

Disappointing, innit? I'm not understanding their strategy on this one. Sure, you want to leave some surprises, but something that we haven't already known for months would be nice.

Haha, they're basically saying the same thing at the http://www.splashdamage.com/forums/showthread.php?t=23420&page=3
