New Build idea-The Avatar

Post » Sun Feb 16, 2014 5:34 pm

So I had an idea for a new build, but I think it might be impossible.

Lately I have been rewatching some episodes of Avatar: The last airbender and I thought wouldn't it be cool to roleplay someone like this in skyrim.

In Avatar: the last airbender, the avatar is the protector of peace. In their universe people can "bend" or magical use the elements of fire, earth, water, or air, but the avatar is the only person who can wield the power of all four. His/her job is to keep peace between the four elements and their respected nations, technically the spirit that gives the avatar so much power is rava, the spirit of good, who battles Vaatu, the evil spirit of chaos, every ten thousand years.

So I'm not talking about using only elemental magic and pretending to travel skyrim looking to master them all, this isn't an exact copy of the avatar, just an idea based off of Aang's personality. The idea of this build is to try and create peace everywhere, and help everyone you can.

In avatar, Aang never kills, he takes everyone's life seriously and no matter what they have done, he believes that they have the right to live. Even when facing the fire lord, who has taken the lives of thousands with his army, aang only leaves him powerless, but doesn't end his life.

The point of this build is not that the avatar is now in the elder scrolls universe, the point is that you have a similar view on how the dragonborn should be. You feel like it is the duty of the dragonborn to keep peace. Your morals are incredible and you don't want to end anybody's life, you want everybody to put aside their differences and live peacfully. You have tremendous power, but u don't use it for agression.

My problem is that I don't know how possible this build could be, the killing of draugr and automations would be alright, but the spell calm would be an absolute must, and in this game killing people is still almost an absolute must. also for a lot of decisions their isn't a peaceful solution, such as the civil war, or a lot of deadric quests. Also I think there would be a point were it may get boring

Any suggestions or ways you feel this build would play better are much appretiated.

Seems you want to go for a Pacifist build, which is a great idea.

Illusion is your best friend on that one Harry. Invisibility, calm, frenzy. Lots of options, Restoration is also an absolute must. Other than I don't really know what to suggest, other than to not do quests that require you to kill.

Ok, was I the only one who saw the thread title and thought the OP was talking about the Ultima games?

Pacifist builds never work in this game.

Especially not one based off Aang. Not the place.

Ya, especially since everything in this game is out to kill you and nothing else

Too much magic can be dangerous. M'aiq once had two spells and burned his sweetroll.

M'aiq suggests you listen to Hagrid.

I've never tried a pacifist build, but I do have a limited build just the same. She's a wood elf hunter whose only skill is archery, has 100 in health, doesn't use armor, and uses a weak bow. She has no chance in a dwemer ruin or against dragons. Those sphere's are just too fast and hit too hard, and dragons, forget it. She's in Skyrim to hunt ivory and that's it.

I bring this up because I've found that skills, race, and equipment are crucial to your character. You'll want to build it just right. I've tried adding other skills to her and none fit. Even sneak, though it would fit with being a wood elf and a hunter, doesn't work because guards will call her sneak-thief.

Experiment with your choice of faction, if any. Your skills and your equipment. Accept the limitations and stay within them instead of straying out of character for more variety. If you get a little bored, start or play another character from another save. My hunter is limited, but when I play her I love her because she is nothing but a hunter, an archer. No factions. Just in Skyrim to get her ivory. Guards have nothing to say to her accept "favor the bow, heh?" "Keep your arrows in your quiver, archer." They and everyone treat her like the stranger she is.

When you find your niche, you'll love it!
