New CAP fixes CrossfireX performance and flickering

Post » Fri Dec 31, 2010 9:30 am

Yes, I did post another topic raging that it didn't work buuut, I had gotten the CAP off a different website. Not sure if that matters...Anyways.

http://sites.amd.com/us/game/downloads/Pages/crossfirex-app-profiles.aspx

Download and install the CAP then make sure you reboot your PC otherwise it won't have any effect. Let me know if it works for you guys.

Oh man! Thank you! I wasn't rebooting and was nearly tearing out my hair in frustration.

I'm getting better scaling and what not but I still get flicker ONLY when I use nanovision.

I did reboot the system after installing the new CAP.

Is anyone else having this problem?

So far it fixed my flickering which is cool now but for some reason it's causing my game to freeze up after just a few rounds and I have to keep restarting the game. Prior to doing the cap update game never froze up on me.

Don't stop working on AFR support in the game though... Nvidia seems to think there's nothing to be done driver-wise anymore.

maybe you should test your SDRAM,or disable your audio driver, look if filckers is still there.recently I upgraded
my CPU,motherboard and SDRAM,found it really fixed some issues on crysis2,it dont mean you must change your
other hardwares, but it really reminded me that some of all issues on a new game which be played with a new graphic card was made by other components and their drivers or our overclock on GPU,CPU,SDRAM.

On 5970 everything is a bit confusing, I had flicker at the start, then installed 11.3 beta and it would go away, then it came back after installing a cap, then go away with 11.4 preview, then came back.

I fixed it this way:

1) In the control panel, uninstal every application profile and every other ati software (the catalyst).
2) Reboot computer (just so everything is "shiny and clean")
3) Install 11.4 preview http://www.rage3d.com/board/showthread.php?t=33975406
4) Instal new cap http://sites.amd.com/us/game/downloads/Pages/radeon_win7-64.aspx
5) Reboot again (same reason as before)
6) Run Crysis2.exe (no longer needs to be renamed to rift or anything since cap should fix this)

It doesn't flicker anymore apart from 1 lightning effect in wall street map

Still have flickering, even with new CAP.. My personal fix was to go to Options>Graphics>Brightness and go up one, hit apply, then back to where it was, hit apply and boom no flickering!

Alienware M17x r2 with 2x HD 5870 mobile CF using ATI/DELL last updated drivers, and the new CAP actually fixed my flickering problem.

Like most of you, I've been struggling to find a workable solution and tried everything suggested on this forum and more. You can name it, RadeonPro profiles, renaming the executable into fear, bioshock etc, they did reduced the flickering, but at the expenses of performance. I downloaded and installed the new CAP profile, rebooted, ran crysis2 and the flickering was gone, I could barely believed it. I'm sorry to hear that for somebody this still doesn't fix the issue. I really feel the pain, as I was loosing hopes myself that I would never be able to fully enjoy the game without getting headaches.

Crytek recently let us know that they are is still working on a fix, and it appears it's taking long time because they are still trying to narrow down and find the cause of this bad glitch. Well, let's hope they'll fix ASAP so everybody can enjoy the game.

Peace.

Thankfully most of the flickering is now gone. However, there is still a subtle flicker (as though the regular flicker had simply been diminished). The performance is a bit better than it has been. One or two more patches should bring the game up to where it should have been upon release.

Yeah I noticed the very very mild flickering, like its been reduced significantly but its completely playable now with this new cap. Since I was expecting it and looking for the flicker I notice it still, but if it were like this upon release I probably wouldn't have complained. can't wait for dx 11

Did you try changing Crysis2.exe to Rift.exe, that kills the flickering.
