The thing is, I haven't ever worked on backstory much before. I know there are other threads about, but I didn't want to hijack them. I have a vague idea of my character's history, and his current personality. As for names, I picked An'drew (my own with an apostrophe - please have mercy!). I thought I'd share some of what I've got, and see where to go from there:
An'drew has lived a very priviledged life, never having to fight for anything. I'm not entirely sure where he's from since I'm not knowledgeable on TES lore and how closely one has to stick to it with character backstory. My ideal backstory is that he didn't live in Cyrodiil, but where he is from, he lived on a lord's estate. I prefer to have him down as one of the lord's sons (the wimpy, not very bloodthirsty one). His father wasn't entirely 'with it', being relatively easy to manipulate in his later years by all around him. His brothers were driven by greediness and brutality. There were also other claimants to the estate (it was taken by one of his ancestors in an act of conquest), so things went downhill pretty quickly once his father passed away. None of his brothers could agree to the laws of inheritance, and ended up fighting one another. The other claimants to the estate saw their chance and became involved in the fighting. With all of his brothers ending up dead and the estate eventually being surrendered by its garrison, he was taken prisoner. He'd never hurt anyone, and it was decided 'mercy' would be granted - so he ended up sold into slavery (almost, anyway - he escaped somewhere along the way).
Currently he's living homeless in a cave, with an iron dagger, sackcloth pants, and a dirty mattress to his name. Not exactly the Ritz.
As for the character build, I've focused mainly on what I will be using the most. No Destruction magic, my guy can only use Alteration, Alchemy and Illusion, with a sprinkling of Restoration (with Alteration, Alchemy, and Illusion as majors). Blade and Marksman for armed combat, as he will have to learn to properly defend himself. Armourer to repair his gear, and Light Armour because I personally prefer Light Armour (Heavy Armour messes with the textures of Slof's Better Bodies, replacing the new Khajit body textures with the vanilla ones, so...). I have Strength and Agility, and the birthsign is the Mage (using Integration - The Stranded Light, so a little different in it's effects).
