New character help!

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 8:23 pm

I am thinking of creating a character to roleplay whos main mission in life is to live life. Buy a cheap house, travel, learn about the world. Stuff like that

Anyway, I was wondering with anyone who also chooses this gamestyle what race/class would be best?

What race/class is best?

None of them. You've got Lothran, mirocu's character who's a dark elf. Buffy, Acadian's character who's a Bosmer. My own Helena who's a Breton.

All of them different races, all different classes, and all very dear to their creator's hearts. And that's just three of us. Any and all combinations work.

My suggestion is to create a character you like the look of, lore etc, and then "listen" to what they tell you abou themselves. This will help determine their birthsign, skills, strengths and weaknesses.

Ok, thanks. :)

Ive always wanted to play a character who I can just use to emmerse myself in cyrodiil without a set path to follow, such as questlines, if you understand what I mean, although I will do quests.

I also wanted to start a fanfic for my character.
Ive read some of Acadians journal fir buffy and it inspired me to create my own character I can form a bind with (if that doesnt sound mad! Haha)

I understand exactly what you mean, I do the same with Helena. I travel alongside her as she explores and develops throughout her time in Cyrodiil.

Sound mad? If it does, then I'm mad with you! Buffy's journal and Acadian's bond with her inspired me to create Helena, and with their help she came to life. I'm very attached to her now. I consider her my friend and travelling companion in Cyrodiil.

Do you have a fanfic for helena, if so I would love to read it :) I think that it is wonderfull when people have that kind of bond with something they have created themselves.

im going to write a character sheet.once my character is created, get a feel on what she is all about :)

As a matter of fact, I do. It's the link in my sig. However, the journal isn't very far along at all. Well, the prologue isn't even finished due to a HUGE case of writers block over the past few months, and I feel Helena may ask me to restart her game when I finish the prologue, so everything we write is fresh in our minds.

Be sure to let us know how they turn out! I'd love to know.

Do you play console or PC?

As Count Lauriel so ably points out, I believe any character that speaks to your heart can help you achieve what you seek. Race and class are not important. Although I have roleplayed in the past by 'becoming' my character, the experience with Buffy is to bind with and travel with her instead.

Thanks for the kind words, and I wish you the best of luck. Keep us apprised of how it goes. Not all characters may 'sing' to you, and it might take more than a try or two. :)

Rihanae, I play on console. Saving up for a gaming PC though.

Helena is indeed an intriguing woman, with a sometimes...interesting view on life. But those sorts of things are just between me and her for the time being ;)

Good luck!

Arcadian ~ Thank you (and Count Lauriel) for the advice. I will definatly follow your advice as its easy
(and obvious) to see how close to your heart Buffy is, and I would love to have that, too. Might I add you as a friend
So if I ever need advice I can ask you directly? :)

Count Lauriel ~ I am also saving up for a games computor, im intreagues by the rp mods ive heard about, such as
Nessesary eating and sleeping etc... Although imagination should be enough for me :)

There are a couple ways that I would suggest approaching this.

The first would be to go natural with your character, by this I mean build him or her in accordance with what he would have learned in is homeland.

Example would be an Orc with Armorer, Blunt, Hand to Hand, Heavy Armor, Restoration, Destruction, and Block. (All the characters begin with a flare and a minor heal, so from an RP standpoint it could be assumed that commoners of any race has those in some capacity, the others flow with the Orc racial bonuses).

Then he could set out to learn about the world around him and acquire new knowledge.

The other way to do it would be to say that your character has always traveled and give them 1 skill per attribute so that they will know about and be able to do a little bit of everything.

For other help check the creation guide in my signature.

I have so many characters, all different races, different classes...But I love them all :) I think that if you just make a character how you want them to be, you'll always be very attached to them.

Any race. For Class I would suggest Commoner or any other civilian NPC classes.

id say whatever, race isn't really that important, so pick whatever race you like aesthetically, as for skills, what do you like to do? sneak and bow? magickally setting people on fire, beating them to death with a blunt instrument? Just play whatever is fun, i like making a character a little counter intuitive, orc mage, breton warrior, high elf thief.

Overall he sounds like he wants to play as a common man. So commoner or farmer class would be perfect.
