new coalition

Judging by alot of the online respones to things like level scaling and the lessening of lore, alot of players like myself are unhappy with what the elder scrolls may become. Basically i want the DEVS that read the forums to see what the general consensus is, so either join up if you want them to see they are dilluting a game many of us have been playing for years. Say no if you like games being level scaled and simlified

In my personal opinion level scaling can be used, but not to the extent in oblivion. Ther should be parts that lower level characters have to work hard to get into like in morrowind. The loss of books is simply inexcusable in my mind, in morrowind, i actually learned about the whole history and current events of my fantasy world through books.

please feel free to join up and too speak out on what your reasons are

Sorry I just hate these post saying that Bethesda is destroying their games or that they become worse and worse.

I think Bethesda makes the best games out there and I loved Oblivion, just like so many else, but because of the huge amount of Morrowind [censored] (no offense) all I hear is that Oblivion was a terrible game and Morrowind FTW. Morrowind was a good game and I like it, but Oblivion certainly was too!
Actually it reminds me of something I hear about Startreck. Startreck fans went crazy because the producers choose to translate some language that only people who had studied the language could understand. I mean seriously, come on there must be more important things to be mad about.
I'm sure that skyrim will be too, even if they make it more user friendly and appealing to a bigger audience...

I hope the game isn't dumbed down.
Oblivion was fun, but it lacked immersion. Morrowind really drew me into it's world. You really felt like you were a part of another world. The politics, culture, books...all that stuff. It felt deep.

oblivion was meh, it was something ok but didnt have the magic and power behind it that morrowind and from what im finding from playing it daggerfall did.

Rpg's are specailized games, they are not for the lay person. A Western RPG is meant to imerse you in a story, take you to another world. When i was playing Oblivion i felt as if i could have wrote in more details to make it fuller. Ifelt as if the cultures that the different kinds of weapons and armor represented where now gone. I felt as if my favorite game that i had spent litterally a couple years playing [really i didnt buy another game, only owned morrowind, and played a few friends games on ocassion] was being made so that simpletons without the ability for complex thought could play it [i mean cmon they mark your map for everything you never have to read]. They make RPG that are user friendly and watered down [The only example of a good one i can find is FABLE].

Unless i can turn all the junk off i more than likely wont buy skyrim as i dont want to build a new PC just for that game [because im sure that someone will mod it to make it what it should be] We will get our first peek in febuary [even though im sure bethesda payed game informer, nothing against bethesda its standard practice] so it will get 4 stars. Maybe we will get luck and get a hardcoe mode. This meads for hope

And not to be offensive if you throw really devoted fan around you should check what it means, just because they made my favorite game of all time dosnt mean im gonna praise bethesda if they water down a series that is intended for hardcoe rpgers. That is what a really devoted fan would do "OH bethesda made it, i must haz!!!!!!11111!!!!!"

I have as have alot of other people, but what makes you think that thread will be read? I honestly dont think this thread will be read by anyone orthwhile but putting my thoughts up twice gives it a better chance, as well as for other core fans to chime in and put a stop to it.

WE HAVE SIMPLE GAMES ALREADY LIKE HALO, FABLE, AND COD
PLEASE BETHESDA DONT KILL A WHOLE WORLD YOU CREATED TO MAKE A FEW BUCKS EXTRA.

When i was working in a game store, im pimped morrowind so hard an even handed out my email to help people get into these type of games. Write a game guide to recoop the profits lost, by people intiailly not understanding the game.

Yes i understand that really bethesda mostly made oblivion in 6 months since they didnt have the hardware from microsoft, and microsoft was pressuring them because they were supposed to be their big money release

Because in the end, everyone here loves The Elder Scrolls. They only want to see it succeed.
There is no "revolt".
Only criticism. It's part of being in the industry.

Yep. I don't want a Morrowind clone, I want Skyrim to be its own game, but yes the best thing about the series imo was the sense of history, depth, scale and lore present in the world. While I enjoyed Oblivion I think it went in the wrong direction in this regard.

I really like it the way Oblivion is, but I would like it more if it required more brainpower/ thinking/ problem solving/ less hand holding.
They need to please the masses because they need to make a profit because they have shareholder etc. so I doubt they will go back to Morrowind style Oblivion being the success is was (is).

Yes but now that Oblivion was a huge success they can make a more in-depth game with no fear of it selling good or not because if they go back to the more in-depth immersion morrowind gave us with some elements of oblivion but mainly a new system critics will PRAISE the game and it will be another huge success

now to all the people who will buy off the game informer review

do you honestly know how marketing works? i can pm you and tell ya how it really works but the politically correct version is. Its all about who your in bed with and who you pay. Morrowind was a sucsess on its own , now because of that microsoft wanted oblivion realeased as a big name game. This lessened development time for bethesda and as the old saying goes good and fast dont go togather. Now even with all of its flaws if a big name magazine knocked [say game informer for example] a game backed by microsoft, well they arent going to get microsoft advertising money or even get payed by microsoft for positive reviews.

Simple people are fooled by marketing, and will simply buy anytihng because they are told its cool.

Make the game more in depth and interesting. I was not interested in oblivions main quest; its been done 1000 times before and it was exeedingly boring and tedious. Morrowind's on the otherhand was interesting and engaging, full of lore and background. Bethesda, take a look at nehrim's main quest. If you can achieve something half as good as that for skyrim, id be happy, as long as you keep the wonderful guild questlines in the game, which are why i play tes so much.

ARE YOU IN OR OUT?
[ ] YES
[ ] NO

Anyway, voted Yes. Not that I'm militantly against watering down, but if presented with a choice, I prefer not watering down to watering down.

I don't think anyone here will be buying Skyrim based on GameInformer reviews. They are going to buy Skyrim because it is what it is: the 5th title in a major series that for all segments of the population here had at least one title that they absolutely drooled over, and they likely hope that this newest title will capture the magic of their personal acclaimed title and breathe some life back into their gaming experience.

For me personally, I'll buy it regardless, even if absolutely no improvements were made from Oblivion, whose faults are many and have been gone over ad nauseum. Why? Because for me, $60 for Oblivion was still worth all the gameplay it gave me, even though I didn't approve of how many things were done. I derived $60 worth of enjoyment form Oblivion, even though it was very much worthy of criticism. And the same will more than likely be true of Skyrim, even if it ends up being Oblivion 2.0.

Besides, I hardly see what the point of this is now. If there was a time to influence core design philosophy in the making of this game, that time was at least a year ago. No matter how good or bad TESV is going to be, there is very little we could say or do now to change or modify anything at all.

We have quite a few threads for different subject relating to the ideas and suggestions for improvement to the TES games, including quite a few in the Skyrim section. I suggest you share some of your constructive feedback in those ongoing threads, which the Devs do look at, from what I have heard.

So we don't need a petition-like thread, with its veiled insults about what "simple people" like to purchase, and the Oblivion vs. Morrowind argument, which has crept in.
