New DLC when FONV is barely playable?

Post » Sun Oct 24, 2010 12:41 am

New DLC slated for xbox360 before/around Christmas. PS3/PC have to wait. Meanwhile Fallout New Vegas is suffering from an ungodly amount of gamebreaking bugs. My question is, why in the world is new content being released, when the initial content can hardly be considered anything past beta? I seriously have never playered a triple A title with this much funding, with this many game breaking bugs. Npcs dissapearing, not existing in the first place, enemies falling through the ground, system crashes every ten minutes, perks not working correctly...the list goes on. I mean what are we to think here seriously?

Hm, wow, so we're already getting DLC's huh?
With FO3 we had to wait until January 27th to get the first one.
I wonder where it will be set... Maybe it's Dogtown! O_o

I like how they say "ported" to PC and PS3, when the .esm files are EXACTLY the same. Oh well, Bethesda sure does love their money.

The game breaking bugs I encountered resulted from exploring and doing all the optional areas before the main questline.... the quests wanted me to do things I already completed and I was stuck.

Barely playable? Either way, Christmas is just under two months away, so that still gives them a lot of time.

wait till you need to get something of someone or somrthing after killing them and they drop through the ground when you kill them,
or you need to talk to someone and they are not where the quest says they are, there is no map marker only a directional arrow to follow which takes you away from where the quest says they are and when you get there they are not there,

there are currently 3 quests i can not complete due to bugs.
not to mention bugs like ed-e going bezerk and attacking quest npc's and other npc's when they are supposed to be in peace mode.
the press are already calling this the buggiest game of the decade.

The press is full of bandwagoners. I have yet to encounter a bug and have played well into 60 hours...

I don't know about "buggiest game of the decade", but it's definitely one of the buggiest games I've played in a long while.

That said, I hope the DLC is worth more than the stuff we got for Fallout 3. Anchorage was okay but was only really useful for bypassing that stupid power armor training requirement, and some decent loot. Pitt and Mothership Zeta were just lacking, and Broken Steel was only really worth it for continuing the game. Point Lookout, now..pretty good stuff.

I could have sworn there were people on these forums saying that there will be no DLC for New Vegas. Is it that Obsidian are not going to make DLC? Am i missing something here?

You do realize there's something smack dab on the main menu saying "Downloadable Content", right? I'd say that's a pretty large "yes".

Well the fact that im 20 hours in and yet to see a single bug except the odd forgivable graphical glitch, I wouldn't call this game the buggiest of the decade. Reviews overall for this game have been high, despite the supposed bugs.
It isn't barely playable or it wouldn't have got such high review scores

I can assure you OP, you are the minority, most people have had a very good playthrough, but for some, there are a lot of bugs.

I just wish the reviewers hadn't got the buggy copies.

I think there is alot of exaggeration wit the bugs.

But some have really experienced major issues.

There probably is some exaggeration, but if you suggest that to the people complaining you will have WW3 on your hands.

This DLC, with all these map locations which could supposedly be DLC transitions; I would be inclined to say that they will stay in the New Vegas vicinity and not be in somewhere like... Dogtown, for example.

I play on the PS3 and thought people were exaggerating too... after 17 all hell brooke lose. Freezings quite often but now I'm at Vault 34 and I can't finish cause the game either freezes or important stuff vanishes. I almost made it yesterday and tried to save but then the game froze and I decided to stop playing until there's a patch.

The DLC is not new news.

It was announced BEFORE the game ever hit the shelves, making it clear that the first DLC the game would get would be an XBox exclusive; this was likely a marketing tactic to convince fans to buy the XBox version of the game before getting a PC or PS3 version, in order to benefit Microsoft.

Obsidian is a self-respecting company and we've already received one patch within two days of the game's release. We still have two months before Christmas is even here.

As a rule of thumb, you should never be the first in line to buy a game. And if you are, have the self-respect not to whine when it's got bugs in it.
