New Dragonshout Revealed?

No, but we have critical reasoning skills.

Some of us anyway.

I'm very proud, then. Just don't try to pass off speculation as fact, no matter how likely you think it is.

This is my assumption. I don't see why that shouldn't be in the game... Mirror's Edge did it.

And to Gorbad Nick Breckon and Pete Hines both said on twitter multiple times that everything in the trailer -including the fight with the dragon- was entirely in-game and how it will be. Meaning, they did not specifically animate anything for the trailer. (Excluding the cinematic camera obviously)

As for the Dragon's point of view...I don't know. I feel like that exists in the game. But you probably cannot access it unless you have a dev console or are using the creation kit on the PC.

No they said it was in-game. You added the "how it will be" which is misleading and wrong.

Look at 1:04 in the trailer.

If you think your character will actually slowly stand up and look up from a crouched position like that then I completely give up debating this.

I'd say the dragon shout that wasn't from the players perspective would be the dragon conjuring fire. If i had to guess, this was, as states earlier, was using a machinima mode, or just spliced in video of a bobbing head effect done up in the sky.

so if it was all done in gameplay as some crack-addled lunatic suggested, everytime we do a dragon shout our camera is thrown foward so far that the dragon has time to kill while we are looking at how we managed to shout at near by trees?.. gameplay trailers are not 100% gameplay they show some amounts gameplay, i dont i need to go into any more detail to show how bad of a decison it is to announce you can recreate the whole trailer .. but if i had to ..
i may mention the fact that in the middle of sprinting along the cliff i want to be able to see skyrim transform into 11.11.11

Yes. Every time you perform a dragon shout the camera will fly off and transition into a montage of beautiful Skyrim scenery while awesome music plays.

More relevant is the exploding fire ability shown in the trailer I bet THAT is the Dragon Shout that is said to summon a ancient dragon to our aid like calling upon his spirit to make a burst of fire all around you. Was it just me or was it in the shape of a dragon? I KNOW its not a spell because it makes you kneel and that is an animation I would associate with a Dragon Shout.

Just like him sticking his hands out when he nearly fell off the cliff.

Aww, I was hoping that would happen in the game.

You kneel and face the ground to shout? It looks like a spell to me.. his hands are on fire and he slams them into the ground, causing a fiery explosion.

Right. There's nothing to suggest that we can look through the dragon's eyes in-game. What we saw in the trailer is the cinematographic device known as "perspective", whereby dramatic tension is generated by granting us the point-of-view of an active participant in the story. It's heavily used in all manner of visual media, and even literature, and therefore does not necessarily mean that the adopting of a dragon's perspective is a game-play feature.

During the new trailer, we see several clips of our hero running .. but it's from the DRAGON'S point of view....

It is my contention that we will have a special ability at some point to be able to see from the eyes of the nearest flying dragon. In this way, Bethesda will let us experience flight again without the need for the game-breaking "Levitation" power. Most of us just want to be able to see Skyrim from that perspective, and feel the joy of flight, and while we probably wouldn't be able to control the dragon (or might'n we?), we may at least be able to see Skyrim from that point of view and feel the fun of flying as a dragon.

Whether something like that would be a Dragonshout, Perk, Feat, or something else, I couldn't say, but I don't think Bethesda would waste time putting a camera inside the dragon's viewpoint just for a simple trailer. It seems like a waste of time, and since they already DID put a camera there, I don't see why they couldn't just ADD this (feat?) (spell ?) (Dragonshout?) now that the idea is out here and let us go ahead and experience that sensation as one of our Dovakhiin cool abilities.

What are your thoughts?

Adding a camera is very simple just locate the camera folder and click and drag into the dragons prefab.

Is it possible by in-game they could also mean a cut-scene? I know the trailer had a lot of Actual in-game gameplay, but the part where he is being chased by a dragon, and the fight that follows seems like a cut-scene.

Well I think it was sort of a cut scene done with gameplay (sorta like RVB with halo but more controlled by bethesda), im sure they scripted the scene but i think they were showing what is possible by scripting possible encounters in game.

Glad people got to finally see some Skyrim animation in this trailer. All that dragon stuff actually happens dynamically in-game.

I thought it was just a camera pan with motion blur, not even from the dragons perspective. I also do not want to give havok too much credit, but they can do a ton of animation transitions with it.I will fully grant the hit and stagger reactions as totally plausible, however I would be shocked if we could play as a dragon. Shocked in a good way. :tops:

OR they did that for Trailer Purposes.

I think a lot about the fight with the dragon, was made for trailer purposes.

Levitation is NOT gamebreaking! It's bad game design that's gamebreaking.

But that aside, no, I don't think you're on to something. I'd say it was just done for dramatic effect, like how in a movie, you might see some scenes shot from the monster's perspective. In any case, what practical purpose would such a shout have? It doesn't let you get anywhere you can't reach by walking or jumping, which is the entire point of levitation, and if you can't control the dragon, I don't see what benefit seeing from its perspective would have. It just makes taking the player outside of the player character's view point, thus making you vulnerable, doesn't sound all that useful to me.

to me it looked more like a big explosion of awesomeness (and flames)

i really love you explained this in such a well thought out and well presented way compared to...

Well, it appears I have had a decent amount of debate regarding this topic. I feel like 95% of you were fair and decent, while a small few jerkwads amongst you apparently couldn't help but flame me with evilness for no good reason as you were unable to maintain any form of civility in this discussion.

We all just look for interesting things to discuss in the forums, a place for talking and using one's brain. The fact is, I had an idea that I think is pretty cool, of having Dragonsight, whether its given to us by means of some Spell, some Ability, some Perk, or what have you, if it was in, I'd look forward to that with immense pleasure. Because the main reason for wanting Levitation back (which it won't be, I'm sure) is so I can get a different view of the lay of the land, to experience the game from higher up that the ground. So it was my hope we could see from the dragon's eyes at some point. We are "dragonborn" after all, why is that so far fetched? If they didn't want to give us the idea that it was possible, they shouldn't have rendered any in-dragon-camera viewpoints during the trailer. Then the question would never have even been possible. As it is (as it has been shown to us), therefore, the question IS possible and I don't need (none of us need) you 5% of dikewads coming on here cussing at me and calling me STU-PID for asking a question. I think it's your answers, you 5%, that reflect that, in fact, it is YOU who are that.

The rest of you, thanks for taking the time to discuss the idea with civility and with intelligence, I appreciate that. That's what forums like this are for.
