New Emperor

Post » Thu Sep 02, 2010 12:38 am

I wonder how the devs will handle this new Fourth Era. They can't have the player character go on a quest to find a new emperor and install him on the throne; too similar to Oblivion's plot. It will be interesting to see what angle they take with the next TES game.

It will be difficult. Thats why I hope gamesas takes there time with this. I think if they do, this installment could be the best yet. With all the input and ideas I have seen, I can't see anything less than a great game being produced. IMHO

They will. Personally, I think that every TES installment will include the Empire. I feel its the thing that there clutching when they go to sleep at night. We all love the faction quests, and all that other crap. But truth be told, the world revolves around the Empire. IMHO

No. The child always take the mothers race, so you wouldn't really know if someone was a mixed race.

And do you really think that the people of Tamriel will accept the illegitimate son of a illegement son that is a Daedra Worshipper? That's like the United States voting in Osama Bin Laden as the next president. It ain't happening.

First off, the fact that we would have no proof that this new son is really a son. And he would be a Sanguine worshipper, which is taboo in pretty much all of Tamriel's cultures.

It's happened before, look at pelagius and all his illegitimate childeren, one of them ended up with a crown.

The Daedra Worshipper is the important part.

If its important, why did nobody care that Martin was a Daedra worshiper when he was sacrificing his life for the empire?

Some desiese may be passed down through generations, it's not always the case that the father sins do so to, if ones beliefs can even be viewed as a sin tht is, which in most cases, it can :)

Because they didn't know about Martin until it was an emergency. The problem is that Martins kid would be assumed to the kid of a Sanguine worshipper, probably makin the kid a Sanguine worshipper. There in lies the problem.

But do the people even know that Martin was a Daedra worshipper?

On the other hand a more important question would be: Why would Tamriel want another Septim on the throne? It is my opinion that , since Martin sealed the gates forever, Tamriel no longer needs the Septims.

What binds the Empire to the Septim line? Nothing now, so I feel that it is entirely possible to have new emperor, not of Septim blood, claim the throne of the Empire. IMHO. Maybe not so much claiming, and a little more receiving.

Of course, you'd need to re-enact the enantiomorph in order to make that myth-bond to the "bloodline" -- and, as we all know, that's a pain in the ass, to say the least.

There have been a few Emperors with no blood relation to the Septims. One more wouldn't shock anyone.

Why would you vote for Vivec when Dagoth Ur is a far better ruler?

No mantling needed, just the Covenant. I like to think that that's exactly what Martin did.

I would not be surprised if the Emperor in TES V woudl be somekind of iron fisted facist as those kind of people usally take over when things are bad.
There is bound to be somone who has enough royal blood to make a claim for the throne, even if it's a very very very distant relative.

As are all Septims. Same coin from a different purse, eh?

Really? That's a bold statement. I completely disagree with that. The Septim line is hardly fascist, and if one or two emperors fit the mold slightly, condemning the entire line because of the actions of one is a seriously flawed argument.

The god known as Talos is as facist as a god can get and still retain the ability to remain moral. Benelovant facism I agree, but that's not always bad.

When the Empire occurred before fascism was invented.

I don't much care for the colloquialisms that change the defintions of fascism and communism to "something undesirable."

Fascism has always existed where imperialistic desires are harbored; the great game, the struggle of ideas, the virtue of strength and the spirit of the great leader.

Does not Talos command; Be strong for war. Be bold against enemies and evil, and defend the people of Tamriel?

It's just that in this modern age nothing exists unless it is defined, and so we define. I don't care, much, for colloquialisms either, but it dosen't mean stuff didn't exist beforehand.

Fair enough, but I still don't think fascism works in describing it.

Would you describe it then? Or is it... indescribable? :P
