As far as I know, it's going to be on the Gamebryo engine, the same engine they used for Morrowind, Oblivion, and Fallout 3. A few months ago Todd Howard said something about how much tweaking of their current engine they are doing in preparation for their next big game, so I wouldn't expect anything other than Gamebryo.

Again, we know nothing about TES V, we don't even know for sure if it's being made. Nothing. So even if it is running on a new engine, we would have no idea. I don't know who keeps telling you these things but they are lying to you. Unless they're a developer at Bethesda they will know absolutely nothing about TES V.

Yeah, you can't demo an engine for a game that doesn't even exist yet. We know Bethesda is working on something and TES V is a good bet but so far they haven't really said anything about their upcoming project.

We do know that they are redoing large parts of their basic technology, including revamping the animation system. That came RIGHT out of Todd Howard's mouth.

"We're redoing large parts of our basic technology." Direct quote from Todd Howard during the Kotaku interview. He also spoke specifically about the animation system, but I don't have a direct quote. You can go listen to the Kotaku interview.

Also, Ashley Cheng months back said that they have no intention of ditching Gamebryo. They will continue to use it for future games, but as stated above, they're always changing it for the better.

What makes me concerned that the announcement might be for Zenimax Online's secret project is the announcement from NetDevil that the Lego Universe MMO uses a "heavily modified" form of the Gamebryo engine.

Huh? What does Lego Universe have to do with Bethesda revamping their Gamebryo to be more freaking awesome?
