New engine vs older ps3 freeze issues like Fallout: NV

Post » Tue May 03, 2011 12:20 am

The topic itself is not a troll, but after trying to maximize my experience on Fallout: New Vegas and getting constant freezing every 5 minutes when I just want to get my 3 levels till max level and finish independently was frustrating. I stopped playing, because I would be spending more time rebooting my console and reloading after each freeze. And yes, I tried all "fixes" available for the ps3. Basically I don't want to make a 55 dollar investment only to find out I can't maximize my experience because the engine conflicts with the ps3. As I am sure this is a touchy subject for devs, I am not here for an apology. I just want a confirmation that I won't be stuck in system freeze hell and yes I know games occasionally/rarely freeze. I kept it simple and I would appreciate your time for a response, whether it is a knowledgeable forum member, moderator or developer.

NV freezing is far from just a PS3 issue.

It was made using the oblivion engine and yes I know it's not as simple as that, I loved Oblivion and it had occasional freezing. Oblivion's freezing was acceptable, but Fallout: NV's issues are not acceptable. It doesn't matter if Obsidian made it, a publisher should stand behind a game even when flaws are present.

NV doesn't only conflict with the PS3. Believe me.

Then maybe the question should be, "Will this game will be shipped with a quality of production considered well polished and free of imminent forum rage posts?"

Yes,it was made with Oblivion's engine, but that doesn't mean Bethesda has to answer for the poor optimization work Obsidian did with New Vegas,i know it from personal experience,New Vegas is one of the few games that i had to stop playing altogheter cause im still waiting for them to fix it properly, and sadly we cant put the blame on publishers,if we could companies like EA would be ruined (I know, one man can dream right?) .

That's better. And I think the answer is yes.

they used the same engine as Oblivion, but Obsidian made the changes with it, so whatever they did to NV messed it up, and mine only crashed like once every 40 hours

and honestly if you are worrying about the game glitching and freezing so much get it for the computer, that way if it does freeze or glitch you can fix it

Saying "its oblivions engine so its bethesdas fault" seam a bit weird since the engine is from another company I don'y know the name of, last I heard its the same engine used in WoW

I love your hash tag signature, btw. You are right, after playing FO:NV it looks a lot more promising to play it on PC. I just hope their new engine is lovely. I don't want perfection, I just want a great game.

they are making their own engine this time so it probably will be more optimized to the gameplay

The engine was Gamebryo. They pretty much rewrote everything and now it's the creation engine. All the previews yesterday said Skyrim looks great.

I must be the only person who played NV without any major issues aside from a few small bugsi. I thought it was a great game...
