New fallout after New Vegas

@Mexican Candy
Who in the right mind do you think you are. For one I didn't even ask you. I don't appreciate your attitude. I have my own opinion and you have yours, so don't be such a pr!ck. And two is that if Bethesda had never taken over fallout they wouldn't have been this successful. Obsidian would have ether kept making the 2D stategy game as they did or quit all together. In fact the reason they sold fallout to Bethesda in the first place is because they didnt make enough money off of it. And Bethesda IS the reason fallout is what it is today!!!!!!!!!! So stop trying to act like it isnt.

Really?
Obsidian sold Fallout to Bethesda?

Thank you for getting where I am coming from! If Bethesda never tolk over there is no way that fallout would be this successful. The fallout series would have ether ended or still be a 2D strategy game.

I still prefer the "2D strategy" Fallouts.

So it would have ended being what it was supposed to be?

Consider this, if your dog died, would you rather it die happy and stay dead, or come back as http://www.nefariousfilms.com/Images/Monsters/tarman.jpg?

I don't think Fallout 3 is a ruined game at all. I have a great time playing it. I also have a great time playing FNV. That's all that matters to me.

I have no idea what happened with the ownership of the Fallout franchise but I'm glad that someone wanted to preserve it and keep it going. I believe there was a project in the works when things were being sold and then people got their heads together and made a game happen. Thank you to them for doing that. I wish there had been more time to make it but it's ok. I love these open world games so much that I wish they could come out more often...every 2 years instead of every 4-5 years (Skyrim) but I know they're complicated and that's why they're great. The writing is important to me so may the best minds get together when they make them.

Again, I'd love to explore New York City in the next Fallout. :)

I understand where your coming from and I do too every once in a while but you have to understand those aren't nearly as successful as the 3D RPGs.

Actually, the original fallouts were crazy successful in there own time, and nobody TB Iso games anymore so we cant know if they wouldnt be successful, Van Buren was going to be like that, but Interplay cut it and threw resources into BoS, not only shooting itself in the foot, more like cutting it's entire leg off.

That is a very good point. But I think I would rather my dog died happy, came back to life more awesome the ever before, made serious cash, then died a PIMP.
Consider That!

No, Just joshing, I understand completely where your coming from.

Again, I'd love to explore New York City in the next Fallout. :)

I think NYC would be too large, IMO any city should contain no more than 1/8th of the map. Nukes do have a way of reducing a city though. I'd also like to know where settlements get their food/water/etc from. I had an idea for New York though, turning it into a city (possibly renamed to New New Amsterdam, because the Dutch are generally considered traders) where money rules, and it's the governments job to protect trade, whether that trade is in drugs, food or even lives (as in slavery, but also mercenary contracts, assassinations).

I'd prefer a Southern Fallout though, something like
Fallout:Rednecks and Rebels
Fallout:The 3rd Manassas (with a Gettysburg rematch DLC)

But seriously, I can see Lyons invading the South (Virginia) from DC, or something located near the MWBOS/MLA (possibly in/near Tennessee/Missouri).

I'm not that interested in seeing New York. I mean, it's been overdone. Heck, almost every film involving the apocolypse has New York getting destroyed.

Besides, chances are it would have been a major target. It would be nothing but rubble piles choking whats left of every street, what with all those crumbling skyscraqers.

Your friend was likely talking about http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Van_Buren_%28Fallout_3%29

As far as the next Fallout game nothing, AFAIK, has been announced at all. And with the main focus being on Skyrim, any new Fallout games are going to be taking a back seat to Skyrim so don't expect anything new for at least a couple of years.

well thats true they haven't said anything about FO4, but they didn't say anything about ESV until very recently so their isn't much warning, but once they do annouce a game, its usually out a year later, and there's gonna be a 5 year gap between oblivion and ESV, and many people thought it would be a little longer between those two games even, but its not, so my guess is FO4 will be out no more than 5 years from FO3 if that even actually, so that would be late 2012 or 2013, i can't seen any longer than that between bethesda made fallout games, they've only made one fallout game and most likely they're working on it already to some degree, just like they were doing with ESV.

i disagree, todd howard said in an interview about the making of FO3 that they kept scaling down the city area because some of the designers thought it would be too complex to navigate, so they like city area, as it is the city in FO3 did take up 1/4 of the map almost and it made for some very good battlezones>> le enfant plaza, dupont circle, vernon square, chevy chase, georgretown, both sides of the capitol building, the mall, the area near the national guard armory and the library etc, a few more even like near lob enterprises and hubris comics, those were all excellent locations for exploring and fighting enemies, i think we've learned from new vegas that if you have too much plain outdoors area, it becomes very boring rather quickly. i would much rather have a city block with places to hide and houses, buildings, industrial areas etc, than a big dry lakebed. to me this is a no brainer for people who like good combat zones and plenty of cool areas to explore and sneak around in.
