Hey never played a Fallout game, and recently got 4, before I jump into it, I was wondering if any veterans would be able to give me a run down of the lore. I'm not sure where to start and like Skyrim, it seems like there is a lot of different stories about factions and other groups, an help would be welcomed .

Do some reading on the wiki. And as u play keep checking new names and groups in it. It will give u a better sense of history. Just remember: war never changes

The Shoddycast lore series on YouTube cover quite a lot of Fallout lore. It's well done and leaves a lot of the multiple endings open since players have a lot of freedom in the older games.

As stated above, Shoddycast's "The Storyteller" series, is probably the best source for a new player because it weaves the timeline into various video episodes narrated and edited quite professionally. The first video is a prologue, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nvqm_pPD-aQ, establishing the world background at the time Fallout 4 begins.

You can learn about different elements of the world by following each episode because each episode focuses on a specific element (e.g., Vault-Tec, Super Mutants, New California Republic, Brotherhood of Steel, etc.). The first season will give you more than enough lore background to appreciate the game much more fully.
