New Fallout Install needs some tweaking. : Fallout: New Vegas

Hi,

Just loaded New Las Vegas from Steam on my new HP windows 7 64 bit machine. I am able to play the game but am getting the random crash to desktop and wonder if somebody would look at my specs and suggest any changes they think I need to make to help with the problem. Thanks for taking the time.

You have 4 CPUs, did you change your ini file in order to adjust for that? This game can have problems with anything more than 2 CPUs. You'll find a pinned thread at the top of the forum that tells you how to go about doing this. And how often are these random crashes? It's not the most stable game to begin with, the game engine being used is prone to crashes every so often, so if it's only happening occasionally that might be perfectly normal.

Thanks, I did validate the files in steam and one needed updating. I will go and see if I can tweak the CPUs and report back. The game crashed twice in the first 40 minutes of play. Once when my character died and the other I can't remember.
