The .7Z file type is a type of compression. When you downloaded the file from the FOSE site, it comes in a .7Z then when you get it, you use your decompression tool of choice to extract the files that are contained within the .7Z file to the Oblivion directory.

You should probably get http://www.7-zip.org/, which is a free file compression/decompression utility that many, if not most, of the modders use to archive their files for downloading on the Nexus.

Thanks for the help guys - I managed to get FOSE downloaded and installed

but a new problem is popping up... alot of the files I'm downloading are in a .rar format - I know this is a form of compression, but I'm unsure how to unzip it


Any advice would be appreciated

EDIT: I've noticed there's an extract tool on the FOMM - can I just use this? Is unpacking the stuff only done if I want to install it manually?

Ok... I've installed the Enclave commander Military edition - and the orders are working fine

Just a quick problem though... the soldiers themselves have bodies & weapons that are just a big red square with a ! mark in them.... I can see their faces and hands, just not their weapons or armour... Any ideas?

Those marks mean you're missing meshes and/or textures that the mod needs to run. Double-check your installation of Enclave Commander and make sure the textures and meshes are in the proper folders - it should have placed them within the fallout3\data\textures and fallout3\data\meshes folders, respectively, possibly in subfolders inside these.

Also, make sure you use the Archive Invalidation tool within FOMM once you have it installed properly.
