Hello. Im brand new at playing fallout three.. my question is if you break a lock.. how do you know where to get the key?

There's not a key to every door. I usually save before lockpicking (harder doors, anyway) just in case. If you break a lock, you'll have to level up and get the infiltrator perk (which lets you try one more time to unlock the lock). However, there are certain locks that can be opened by lockpick OR key. But that's only in specific places.

Please do not break locks. Most of them will be impossible to open again. Not all of them have keys (95% of them)

There will be this 1 perk that gives you another chance at lock picking (if you broke it)

SAME GOES FOR TERMINALS!

Do not use Force Unlock or else that lock will be broken and there your chance gone. Just use your mouse to turn the bobby pin and the arrows for the screw driver.
There is a perk there if choose it to give you a second chance.

Just about same applies to computers terminals. You get fours guesses. If you don't get the third guess right get out of it by pressing its red power button and go back into it. If you don't get the forth guess right you get locked out from the computer. If you choose there is a perk for it to get a second chance on that computer.

Just leave it and go back when your lockpicking skills are higher.

if you break a lock and you want whats inside you have to get the Infiltrator perk it lets you retry to pick a lock yove already broken you unlock it at level 18 and you need your lockpick skill on 70 and Perception on 7 get this perk and you can do it thats the only way :flamethrower:
