New game's province where do you want it?

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 6:12 am

Isn't that game all underwater? Or is it above ground and underwater? Maybe I should try it out.

It's 100% underwater, save for the opening scene where you actually find the city. But I know what you mean, I too would like underwater cities or towns in TES. It would just be a nice change of pace. Plus the fact that they would be populated entirely by Argonians certainly isn't a bad thing.

Bethesda really needs to liven up their underwater environments in general.

I think the next game really ought to be set in Summerset Isles because all the rumours (in Oblivion) indicate a situation coming to a boil there (but they ought to expand upon em, instead of ignoring them like they did in Oblivion).\

Will reading the Infernal City, or sould I say the sequal to that book answer where the next province the story will take place in, or will it just give us an idea what the plot will be?

Reading the Infernal City wont, and chances are good the second one wont either. The provinces the plot of the book took place in were Cyrodiil, Black Marsh, and in the wasteland formally known as Vvardenfell. But I suspect that the fact that the Dunmer took refuge in Solsthiem is a hint that it will be in Skyrim. That's just my guess though.

I for one hope that when Umbriel uses White Gold Tower to break free from Oblivion, in lands right on top of the Imperial City and completely destroys it. I hope that happens for a few reasons, namely so that the Empire crumbles completely, and so that if they ever set a game in Cyrodiil again, we'll have something new to see.

That would be cool. I want to see a video made by Bethesda showing that. :nuke:

Skrim because the lore really needs to be flushed out well. Also, I want so save Elsweyr, Summerset, and Argonia for a game capable of rendering really intense graphics and capable of haveing all species of Khajjit.

To be the wild card again, there where rumors that "Yokuda" has resurfaced.
Seeing a previously inhibited, then destroyed and now recolonized island would be neat, especially since we could see what developed on there in the time it was sunk. Maybe a new species evolved on it. Actually it could make for a great conflict, a new race that has taken residence on Yokuda, the descendants of the previous inhabitants demanding the land of their ancestors and colonists wanting to claim the new land as their own.

an aquatic kinda race would be cool :P like argonians only fishier

I think an interesting turn of events might be to focus on one single city, but recreate that city to actual scale. The city I live in is what would be considered a "small town" to most of the world (population 50k). It is roughly 64 square miles. That's a long walk from one end to the other (trust me, I've done it). But that kind of scale with all the buildings and people would be plenty of space for a game world. Think of 50,000 unique NPCs to interact with. Think of all the buildings to enter. Think of a real town with different architectural styles because some buildings were built 100 years ago, and some were built last week. And there are abandoned buildings with homeless people and alleys and muggers and town guards that just can't possibly be everywhere at once. There could be districts like how real cities have a Chinatown district, a waterfront, a bar district, government district, and so on. I don't need a whole State. One single city, done right, would be a refreshing change of pace.

EDIT: And before anyone says "Grand Theft Anything," keep in mind that I said 1: "to scale," and 2: "done right."

Snip

That's a great idea, but I think it should be done as an expansion. I believe it was Seti who mentioned this not to long ago, but the Imperial city "In all its glory". That would be a great difference to the usual hiking that happens in TES and could provide potential for 'city life'.

My vote is with Skyrim, but Elsweyr also has great potential. In fact, they all do, but these 2 stick out as they would make GREAT survival games, stuck in Anequina or dying from hypothermia on 'The Throat of the world', regretting not following the signs begging you to not go up there, but as you curse yourself again you see a wolf pawing itself closely to you, hungry.

I voted for Hammerfell, because I wish to hear more about it's history and culture as Oblivion's books gave me the interest to it.

I voted for three.

Skyrim - It seems the most likely, and the lore interests me. Plus, I'd love to see what bethesda can do with the province, as it has the potential to be absolutely stunning.

Morrowind - I know Vvardenfell has already been done, but I love Dunmer, and I'd love to be able to go to a Bethesda designed Morrowind (I'm aware of Tamriel Rebuilt).

Summerset Isle - Seriously? Imagine what it would look like!

I'd -really- like to see Summerset Isle, since I feel this is the province with most potential when it comes to variation, mystique, alien-esque feel, and interesting lore.
Skyrim to me... doesn't sound like fun -- I've gotten the impression that it's gonna be too barren and snowy to be any fun.
I'd rather see Valenwood - with some real forest, as opposed to the sparse thickets in Oblivion.
As for Black Marsh... In another tread it was discussed that it's possible that Bethesda Cyrodiil from jungle (as it was supposed to be, originally in lore) to a more european landscape because a jungle would demand too much of computers and software... this might still apply. Anyways, I like Summerset and Valenwood better.

Yokuda never sank completely. The large majority of the continent sank, but there's still a lot of it left. You're probably thinking of Thras, which was sunk completely, but then resurfaced later.

Ah OK, still point is it was largely uninhabitable for a long time and I was of the impression that the sunken parts started to resurface as well.
It would mean you'd have a continent where A. a new race could have taken residence and started to build their nation B. after resurfacing there could be a LOT of interest by the descendants of the original inhabitants, the empire and other colonial factions wanting to take this new land. You'd essentially could have at least 4 factions with varying interests on the land alone, each with legitimate interests.

ELSWEYR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i would love adventuring in the jungles of Elsweyr. It sounds like such an amazing environment, Jungles, grasslands, savannahs, deserts. Pretty much Africa. But its a really nice break from the typical rpg feel, and no offense to the Skyrim fans, I feel like Skryim would too much resemble Cyrodiil.

And it would be cool with the Khajiit. I would really like to see wandering tribes, bandits appearing out of the dunes, and just the culture of the Khajiits is awesome (that doesn't mean I think skooma is awesome) Another thing I just want to add in is on the lycanthropy lore page on uesp, it says there are werelions in Elsweyr (also cyrodiil but that didn't happen). What the heck would that look like. When I think a half man half lion it looks just like a Khajiit. ANother thing is, there would be more variety in animal life. No more rats and wolves. It would be cool seeing lions and tigers and maybe some African herbivores.

If it had to be another place, I would like Valenwood or Blackmarsh.

You know, at first, I was a little disappointed when I found out about the Skyrim trademarks. I was hoping for something warmer, more tropical, and more colorful. However, Skyrim's really grown on me.

Valenwood and Elseweyr have been creeping up on me as provinces I want to see, but I stand by my previous choice of Summerset.

I'd like to see Valenwood, Elsweyr and Black Marsh. Any combination or all of them. My favorite race is the Argonians.
I live in Canada (eh) and would prefer not to see a lot of snow.

I voted for 4 different provinces.

My first two are Elsweyr and Black Marsh. My reasoning behind this is the same reason I posted in the speculation thread. That being, we've already been to provinces that have at least one elf and one human race as the dominant race. Why not give the beast races a chance to "shine?"

My next province of choice goes to Valenwood. I just like the idea of the forest setting and the fact that entire cities can be contained inside of a tree that itself can migrate. The idea of moving cites perplexes me. :read:

And after that, there's good ole' Summerset Isle. The landscape sounds nice and varied, and the backstory that Oblivion creates for it sounds like it would be an interesting plot.

As for the other provinces, we've already been to them before (Hammerfell, High Rock, Morrowind [well, most of Morrowind]), or I don't see how the landscape could offer all that much in diversity (Skyrim).

Skyrim, with possibly some parts of the neighboring provinces. If done right it would do a good job of giving a not-elven perspective on lore (love the subjectivity principle but sometimes it bites me on the ass).
