New hands-on preview indicates pop-up issues..

Post » Thu Oct 20, 2011 5:17 am

In fairness to Bethesda I can't recall too much pop-up in Fallout 3 and I played that for months. I am quietly confident, it's just a tad worrying when you read a random hands-on and the first thing they mention is the poor quality visuals.

They over exaggerate things and often compare games to other games unfairly quite often not even in the same genre. The final build has yet to go through its full polish, the previews are from old builds so even if it has a few hiccups so what... How many times of you watching the same video did it take you to notice them??

Oblivion wasn't really Bethesda's fault cause they didn't have the correct specs for the console until very late thus them cutting content because it would make the Xbox freak out and RROD...

Hah, yeah they couldn't use the radiant ai system that Todd showed in the demo because the xbox would overheat or whatever.

An announced feature not working the way it was initially announced? Gee, I've never heard of that ever before.

I think every gamer goes through the same tribulation the first time they look forward to a game intently and realize post-release that the game does not only exhibit all the problems that were shown in marketing videos, but is actually worse and missing features.

Try not to take it to hard in November.

Beth didn't get final hardware specs for the 360 until a couple months before launch

Lol, my crap? Funny as i quoted this your only post was to flame (pre-edit). Good on you, you really showed me a thing or two.

And nobody mentioned $20k. Some will struggle to pay $200... they may have mortgages to pay, children to raise, wives that love shoes. So unlike yourself, responsibilities take priority. How hard is that to understand?
And i have clearly mentioned many.... many times that some console game as a CHOICE. When in this thread have you seen me complain about pop-up? Yeah....

Expensive shoes are a financial priority?

The answer to this particular problem is to either get a PC or deal with it. I'm sorry if you feel that answer is an insult to console users, or some other crap, but that's the answer. It's not an elitist answer to give, it's a FACTUAL one. It's the only one.

Apparently not since there's a PC user insisting that it's a problem even on the PC.

Uhh, doesn't the fact they are in this forum prove they already have a PC? :goodjob:

You are just another one of those arrogant PC users; I personally don't give a crap because I playing the game on the 360 and PS3 and probably will enjoy it more than elitist PC users.

I agree with you there mate but also Fallout doesn't have the forests and fauna to deal with either. Fallout out is quite an ugly game aesthetically also due to the setting.

Being honest, the odd pop in isn't much to worry about. Particularly on the weakest platform. The PC will be fine (as I recall Oblivions LOD was fine for PC with the right specs).

I'd imagine it's extremely difficult to balance artistic desire with hardware capability. Something is going to give.

I have a fairly powerful machine and never have this problem, so I guess the answer is to get a fairly powerful computer.

The features that they had planed for Oblivion were to much for the Xbox 360 it simply couldn't render what the game would demand so they cut some stuff to make it compatible despite this Oblivion is still one of my all time favorites and is still in my desktop's drive, were getting off-topic this is about Skyrim not Oblivion. Also you're banker statement confuses me i'm not good with English sarcasm.

The pop-in we're talking about is exactly the same on PC as it is on consoles. The only way round it is to use one of th mods that display everything all the time which is a real system killer.

No, you're just another one of those insecure console users that takes even simple statements of fact as insults. These pop-up issues are caused by the XBox's dated hardware. A high-end PC won't have these problems, so changing platforms is the ONLY way around this if it bothers you. That's fact. Sorry.

Where do people get this? The fact is they simply overestimated what they were going to be capable of and couldn't pull it off in time for release. AI like the one in the E3 '05 demo would have been nice, but would've resulted in absolute chaos if it weren't exactly perfect. Either that or three quarters of the NPCs in the game would've been essential to prevent random deaths.

Just been reading a hands-on preview by bit-tech.net which indicates pop-up issues on the XBOX 360 version.

"The view was expansive, but not exactly impressive and as we moved through the landscape, grass, rocks and shrubs were popping in to view, breaking some of the immersion. This was on the Xbox 360 version, so we’re hoping that the PC version won’t suffer such LODing issues."

^Immersion^

Brown Bread With Nutella claims it takes a "beast" of a machine. Not "fairly" powerful.

It's not a question of being PC elitist or console lover. It's just that this same issue has been discussed for MONTHS and people complain that this is something Bethesda should fix. That is why I posted in here. I'm tired of people blaming Bethesda for console limitations. I have no issue with PC vs console. I have no issue with discussing concerns of the game. But when people go overboard and just complain when there is a solution they choose not to take, that bothers me.

Not posting in here anymore. I'm really not trying to incite stuff. Just posting my opinion.

It doesn't matter what you say or what you do, they will always take the oppurtunity to take a chunk of flesh, just because its instinct.
